Glen A. Larson, the wildly successful television writer-producer whose enviable track record includes Quincy M.E., Magnum, P.I., Battlestar Galactica, Knight Rider and The Fall Guy, has died. He was 77.
Larson, a singer in the 1950s clean-cut pop group The Four Preps who went on to compose many of the theme songs for his TV shows, died Friday night of esophageal cancer at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, his son, James, told The Hollywood Reporter.

I loved his "space epic" shows, "Battlestar Galactica, (the original,) and "Buck Rogers."

(129,457 posts)... from a big fan of so many of his shows including "Switch" with Robert Wagner & Eddie Albert. He had perfected the formula for prime time series across the popular genres - westerns, police dramas, and sci-fi. I used to chuckle about how Knight Rider "borrowed" storylines from shows like Speed Racer.
As a big fan of Battlestar Galactica (HIS version, not the later bastardized knockoff), that broke all records that one Sunday night it premiered on ABC with 100,000,000 viewers, I have to say that you will be sorely missed.
(I was fortunate to meet Herb Jefferson, Jr. at a convention about 10 years ago and got an autograph in my BSG premiere novelization).
