(2 posts)The Port Authority was formed by congress in 1921. It is not subject to state laws. Only federal laws which state "and the Port Authority of NY & NJ" apply.
Manny Sellars when chair the House Ways and Means could not get financial info from The Port.

Take it out of Coumo's and Christie's hands - get rid of the six appointees each - put it under the Authority of Congress. And make the costs of running it the responsibility of ALL Americans.
I'm being a bit sarcastic here - but the short quick sentence you placed doesn't really get into the how and why - and why there is even a need for the people of NJ and NY to have oversight - because if I let a bunch of folks in South Dakota that have never been any place but the middle of the country make decisions - they will totally fuck things up.
Look at how Christie fucked it up WITH the oversight we CURRENTLY have - all we are asking for is transparency.
No one is going to lose their liberty or their guns because the people who touch those points of entry and exit want to make damn sure those assholes in Trenton and Albany don't play games with our daily lives.
And that's exactly what that sunofabitch Christie did. He needs to be punished - he can sign off on his punishment himself.
