DALLAS DEPUTY DOES NOT HAVE EBOLA, TESTS CONFIRM

Source: abc

Sorry for the all caps, it was copy/pasted. Should I change it?

The deputy sheriff in Dallas who visited Thomas Eric Duncan's apartment does not have Ebola, tests confirmed today.

Deputy Sheriff Michael West Monnig sought medical attention Wednesday because he did not feel well more than a week after going into the apartment where Duncan had been staying with relatives when he was showing symptoms. Monnig was part of a team that delivered an order quarantining the other residents of the apartment.

It was determined today that he was not suffering from the symptoms commonly associated with Ebola.

"We have completed testing of the specimen submitted today by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. The result is negative for #Ebola," the health department said.

Fatigue and a stomach ache turn out to be only that. No other symptoms, test came back negative.

A Dallas County sheriff’s deputy who fell ill after visiting the apartment of Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan is doing well today and shows no signs of having the disease, hospital officials say.

Michael West Monnig visited an urgent care clinic in Frisco on Wednesday afternoon complaining of fatigue and a stomachache. He was rushed to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, hours after Duncan died in an isolation unit there.

“Mr. Monnig’s condition is good with no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea reported,” according to a written statement from Presbyterian. “His current condition is not consistent with an early stage Ebola diagnosis.”...(clip)

They were so happy trying to scare themselves and everybody else into sheer stupidity.

Ebola remains pretty hard to catch. So far, Duncan's relatives have also tested negative.

The conspiracy theories haven't started yet...soon we'll be hearing about the Obama cover up, and the doppelganger Dallas cop that's an imposter 'cause the real one died...there is no limit to the depths of lunacy that people will go to...

Hundreds of people heading to the hospital believing they have Ebola.

This is turning into a stupid panic.

Talk radio and TV is in full-blown fear monger mode. It's ridiculous, for a virus that has nowhere near the spreading ability of even the flu.

It's because Ebola brings in ratings. There is no story, so they have to make one like usual.

I would rather people be over cautious than fluff it off. (We had a few over concerned hospitals here in DC this week, both patients were negative. *Better to be safe than sorry* really rings true these days. )

Thanks.
