Police: Letter Threatens To Behead Elementary School Students In 3 Rhode Island Communities

Source: CBS local Connecticut

Warwick’s police chief says a threat to elementary school students in three communities mentioned beheading. Col. Steven McCartney tells WPRO-AM that the threat specified that “beheading is planned.” He called the nature of the threat targeting children in Warwick, Cranston and Johnston chilling.

“There was a specific mention of elementary schools in this letter, the other thing which was the specific type of threat, which was beheading, is planned,” McCartney told WPRO. Johnston police received the anonymous threat by mail on Tuesday. Police say officers will be at every school in Johnston, Cranston and Warwick through Friday.

Several parents said they’ll keep their children at home. McCartney says the schools may be the safest place to be. “The intent of the Warwick Police Department is to allow the education of the students to continue safely,” McCartney told WPRO.

Cranston Supt. Judith Lundsten says recess will be canceled and students will not wait outside but will enter immediately. Lt. Matthew Moynihan, a state police officer working for Cranston police, said authorities have not determined any validity to the threat.

after sensationalism for publicity and political gain, imagine what this would cause. My little 4 year old runs around with her hands in the air chanting Don't Shot. I hope she does not hear about this.

If these are false alarms I hope they catch the person. We have some really serious problems going on - either join in helping or set back and watch but don't make it worse.

A girlfriend and I used to do it this way:

Stay on for a few minutes after the recording ends. They'll pick up. Call after midnight to get 'em outta bed. Say something that makes 'em go crazy and they'll hang up first. Only pranks I ever did.

We did have prank bomb calls at our high school back in the sixties, usually just before school let out. We all had to go out to the football field. Figured it was someone who didn't do their homework, or something like that.

Don't recall that the students were mentioned, just vague threats. They never found anything, so it got to be routine.

This call about killing the kids is pretty sick shit.

Whatever tune ISIS is playing, we are damn sure dancing to it. We'll end up giving them another boots-on-the-ground war before it's all over, just like they want. And then the latest Mid-Eastern street gang will start the whole process all over again. Our grandchildren won't live to see the end of it, the way things are going.
