Richland, Charleston counties issuing marriage license applications to same-sex couples

Richland and Charleston counties started accepting marriage license applications from same-sex couples Wednesday despite the state's constitutional ban against the marriages and the attorney general's pledge to defend that ban.
Richland County Probate Judge Amy McCulloch said she accepted applications for the first time.
I believe its time for this to change, McCulloch said. Its a fundamental right to be with who you want to be with.
McCulloch said she changed categories on the countys paper marriage license application from bride and groom to Applicant 1 and Applicant 2.
