Report: 1 Shot, 1 in Custody at North Carolina School

ALBEMARLE, N.C. -- Police in Albemarle report one student has been hurt and another student is in custody after a shooting at Albemarle High School.
The shooting was reported around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. A police dispatcher confirmed the shooting but could not provide details. A spokesman did not immediately return a phone message.
Multiple media outlets reported that the school has been placed on lockdown. Parents were asked to go to North Albemarle Baptist Church, about a block from the school.
Albemarle Police Chief William Halliburton told The Stanly News and Press the student was shot in the leg. He was taken to Stanly Regional Medical Center for treatment.
