Storms drench parts of Arizona, Nevada

PHOENIX (AP) — Residents of the Phoenix area were greeted Sunday morning by toppled trees and debris-littered streets.

Powerful thunderstorms brought heavy rain and strong winds to the region Saturday — flooding roads, delaying flights and leaving thousands without power.

The Salt River Project utility says 800 people are still without electricity — down from 51,000.

The Arizona Public Service says 7,000 customers were without power, but progress was expected in the next few hours.

Right now a huge thunderstorm. I don't recall it raining like this in a long while.

Records are meant to be broken but it doesn't look likely this year.

2 days to go and no rain forecast, but that could be wrong too.

In 2012 Phoenix had 4.48 in. of rain, for the entire year.

Which of course is why average, normal, abnormal, unusual etc. is pretty much useless when describing weather. It is what it is and will do what it pleases.

They'll want it done and quickly
But, they won't want to pay for it
