Lindsey Graham on abortion ban: If pregnant mom sings to her fetus then it must be a person

Source: Raw Story

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defended his proposed abortion ban this week, saying that if a pregnant mother sings to her fetus then it must be considered a person.

Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) reported on Tuesday that potential presidential candidates like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) had written letters in support of Graham’s bill that would ban abortion in the United States after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

“If you’re telling parents to sing to the baby because they understand your voice, really should we be aborting a child at the stage of the pregnancy?” Graham asked the network.

“I don’t want anybody carrying the Republican banner that doesn’t get this. If you don’t get this, then you’re the extremist,” he added.

as several pointed out, does that mean if the woman does NOT sing to the fetus, it is not a person, and, therefore, can most assuredly be aborted?

20. Let the woman decide

I thought the same thing. Whether and when to bring a pregnancy to term and have a baby is a profound decision. This decision if for the woman to make. The woman who is singing has clearly made her decision, which I equally respect.

Can we then abort him from congress for not being a person now?

edit to add: I mean him no harm in this procedure other than having the door of his office hit him on his non-human ass as he gets booted out.

We have a whole song-and-dance routine, where I sing to him, and he high-fives me after each verse:

"I'm... too cutesome for my tail...

Too cutesome for my tail,

I'm too cutesome!"

(High five Mom here...)

"I'm... too fluffy for my butt...

Too fluffy for my butt,

I'm too fluffy!"

(High five Mom here...)

"I'm... too playful for my paws...

Too playful for my paws...

I'm too playful!"

So I guess I should be filing tax returns for him, and getting him a Social Security number, huh?

D'ya think the IRS would take quarterly estimated payments in kibble?

sarcastically,
Bright

His logic is illogical. If he truly believes what he's proposing, he should be demanding the repeal of Roe. But he isn't brave enough to stand up for what he really believes in . . . it might cost him votes.

because I'm a guy, but I sing very poorly everyweekend on the mower or tractor which drowns out my lousy voice. Can't carry a tune in a bucket but I sang to my kids when they were in their mom's womb and once they arrived. Now they just laugh on the weekends when they see me mowing and singing....I feel sorry for the grass and cows that hear me sing. Kids beg me not too, but campfire songs and army marching tunes(clean ones of course) are way up on the top of my favorite list along with Jimmy Buffett. Lindsey Graham needs to go pound sand.
