(42,239 posts)NEW YORK, NY April 3, 2012 - "We are grateful for James Murdoch's successful leadership of BSkyB. He has played a major role in propelling the company into the market-leading position it enjoys today and in the process has been instrumental in creating substantial value for News Corporation shareholders. We look forward to BSkyB's continued growth under the leadership of Nicholas Ferguson and Jeremy Darroch and to James' continued substantial contributions at News Corporation."

(82,849 posts)Hard to believe a simple investigation of facts could lead to such a pretty pass. All that lookin' backwards to the past instead of lookin' forward to the future, and a good job is lost. Thank goodness we don't do that sort of thing in the United States. The sins of the past stay in the past here, isn't that right, Mr. Kissinger? Mr. Cheney? Mr. Bush?
God bless America.

(42,239 posts)yawn, but News Corps share values are their highest ever now having gained 12% over the past 12 months as a result of/despite this debacle.
btw - there's probably more interest here on DU in the subject than there is in the entire UK population. When News Int. launched the Sun on Sunday a few weeks back the independently audited distribution figure was a staggering 3.2 million copies - that figure is higher than the NOTW sold prior to its demise in August.

Yes, 'yawn'. No interest in the UK, clearly.
The Sun on Sunday sales dropped back to NOTW levels the next week: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/mar/09/sun-on-sunday-versus-now . And it's half the price. But sales don't imply quality, especially of news.
What is it with you and boosting the Murdochs? I just don't get it. It's just this one subject on which you are the most enthusiastic cheerleader I've seen - far more than any right winger.

(42,239 posts)that what is news here is actually of particular interest to our public in general - its just news and would look odd if they didn't mimic each other.
I don't boost anything. I just help complete the information.
To what do you attribute the success of the Sun on Sunday other than bland indifference to the News International situation here ?

(101,330 posts)who worked on the particular paper who were the problem, rather than a corporate culture that came from Rupert Murdoch. The same kind of culture that means Liverpool still doesn't buy The Sun.

(7,719 posts)They let greed run their lives. Now, they need to spend what life they have left in prison to pay for their transgressions. Makes you almost wanna tear up.....NOT! They really need to get what they deserve. They got caught cheating to satisfy their greedy nature. I have zero sympathy and a lot of disdain for them.
