Charlie Crist cruises in Democratic primary win, but race against Rick Scott is tough toss-up

Source: Miami Herald

Florida Democrats made it official Tuesday: They want a former Republican governor to beat the current Republican governor.

Heading into Tuesday’s Democratic primary election, Charlie Crist’s win over longtime Democrat Nan Rich was never in doubt. Only the size of his double-digit margin — where he led Rich by 50 percentage points when the Associated Press called the race two minutes after the polls closed — was in question.

That’s not the case when it comes to the general election pitting Crist against Republican Gov. Rick Scott. It’s close to a tie race. And it’s brutal.

Amid his cakewalk of a primary, Crist has had to deal with the bitter reality of Scott’s multi-million campaign juggernaut, which has spent nearly $28 million since November, trashing the Democrat on the airwaves from the moment he officially entered the race.

some of us can hardly wait to see Rick Scott given the boot. And we never voted for him in the first place. We've been well and truly screwed by this man and we'd rather walk on broken glass, atop hot coals than give Skeletor our vote.

votes of those who benefit from his many privatization schemes. Nothing to do with who's best for the rest of the people. It's all about the bucks for them.

And it works great in blue states, too. We have to deal with those who profit and are very active and vicious.

They will do anything to keep their paychecks. And I do mean ANYTHING.

Grifters abound.

millions of voters to just begin to overcome the GOP tricks. It will depend on who is watching Faux and who is on the ground, too. I truly hope that Crist wins this one. Rick Scott has the Koch bucks behind him, just like Rand Paul. That is what is at stake. Good luck, Florida!

and I am a people from Florida.

The first time Scott ran, it was well known about his shady government fraud in excess of 10's of millions. The nurse treating me for a bum leg told me she just couldn't bring herself to vote for a Democrat even though - and get this - she was working now in her mid-60's because both she AND HER HUSBAND were victims of Scott's plundering of Florida's health care system.

Florida Republicans would vote for Caligula if they could resurrect and dust off his body and he was running against Christ Ow-mighty. Then again, Christ is dark-skinned and looks rather foreign. OK- running against Martin Luther King- No, that won't work. Against JFK-no, too Catholic. Shit, Scott's going to win.

the "hometown" of the Space Alien. I will do the same as I did in the Presidential election. I am coming back from NY the day before the election and will bring my Absentee Ballot myself to the Supervsor of Elections office. It is horrible being a Democrat in a Tea Bagger area, and they let you know it.

Crist. Democratic Party here sucks! I can only wish that all those Dems would voted for Rich will UNDERSTAND that we MUST get rid of Scott! Many Dems simply WON'T vote for anyone unless they've been a life long Dem.! I've heard it too many times. I call Scott "the alien" he looks just like one.

All I can say to my fellow Dems. is just think the whole thing over, PLEASE! SCOTT HAS TO GO!!!! That's the bottom line and it's all I can say!
