Elizabeth Warren Officially Disavows 'Ready For Warren' PAC

Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D-MA) lawyer has sent a "formal disavowal" to the Federal Elections Commission on Ready for Warren the group that aims to nudge Warren to run for president in 2016.
"This letter serves as a formal disavowal of the organization and its activity," Mark Elias, Warren's attorney wrote in the letter, according to The Boston Globe. "The senator has not, and does not, explicitly or implicitly, authorize, endorse, or otherwise approve of the organization's activities."
Later in the letter Elias stresses that "Senator Warren has publicly announced that she is not running for president in 2016." Ready for Warren is supposed to be an analogous group to Ready for Hillary, which as its name suggests, aims to lay the groundwork for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016.
"We've all been clear since we launched our campaign that Senator Warren isn't associated with our group, and we aren't associated with the Senator -- I don't think there's anything new in this letter," Erica Sagrans, the campaign manager for Ready for Warren, said in a statement to TPM. Sagrans continued:

(5,644 posts)Bernie Sanders will be 73 yrs old next month. I had thought about him but, if Obama has aged 15 yrs since he's been in office this job may kill Bernie.
I may have to vote for Hillary....

(12,882 posts)and just LOOK at all the promises Mr Peace Prize vocalized when he WAS seeking the office. It's obvious there's some truth-stretching involved when trying for the White House. I'd wager, even to the point of saying one DIDN'T want the job as a strategy. Maybe she's wary that her constituents would look unfavorably upon her if she were vying to pull out on them. It's a L O N G trail til the 2016 showdown.

(11,014 posts)She had no chance in the general election anyway.
But .. she would have won MA, CA, OR and VT for sure.

(11,014 posts)the general election is identical to extreme teabaggers thinking the current republican party loses because they are not conservative enough.
For decades, middle of the road has elected presidents except in 1980 and 2008 when crises determined the outcome. Even President Obama moved to the center (to our chagrin) after 2008 in order to win in 2012. President Obama would have lost if he had turned extreme liberal.
The electorate does NOT favor extremes in either direction.
PS: I am a big fan of Senator Warren and did my two cents to help get her elected to the senate and will continue to support her. She just cannot win the general election in my opinion and a democrat has to win this time to control the supreme court. Therefore, we must rally behind the most electable candidate we have - Hillary Clinton.

(32,017 posts)I also think we could run Daffy Duck for President in 2016 and win. That's what the demographic trends suggest, in any event.
I am sick of "running to the center," and I have said so on many occasions.

I could be wrong and the PAC will shut down soon, but they need to respect Senator Warren's request.

(2,574 posts)Love & appreciate Bernie, but he's just not a viable candidate.
If Dems want to run a candidate who represents "the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party", Sherrod Brown has both the populist likeability and record to represent and win. Notice that Wall Street panics at the possibility of Brown's Finance chairmanship, and that Brown won handily against mountains of Koch/Rove money against him in not so easy Ohio.
Connie Schultz, Brown's wife, is a reporter. I'd like to see her in the White House too. They're a wonderful team.

(34,825 posts)Third Way represents Americans in the vital center those who believe in pragmatic solutions and principled compromise, but who too often are ignored in Washington.
Our mission is to advance moderate policy and political ideas. Our agenda includes: a series of grand economic bargains, a new approach to the climate crisis, progress on social issues like immigration reform, marriage for gay couples, tighter gun safety laws, and a credible alternative to neoconservative security policy.
Unlike traditional think tanks, we do not house scholars who work in silos on academic research. Instead, we are built around policy teams that create high-impact written products and innovative trainings to influence todays debates.
Our ideas have been used by the President, members of Congress, governors, mayors and countless political candidates. Based on our record, the media has labeled us the future of think tanks, incorrigible pragmatists, radical centrists, and the best source for new ideas in public policy.

(62,276 posts)This is unheard of for a candidate that isn't running. Draft Gore wasn't even a 10th as this popular. Warren isn't stupid, she might jump on board if Ready for Warren was able to raise a few tens of millions, but that's not happening.
Most of Warren's supporters are on the apolitical left.

(6,399 posts)I'd like to go for a few years without a MA candidate running for higher office like that. We've had so many problems with our senators being changed out recently that some time with them in office doing what they're elected to do will be welcome. With Kennedy dying and then getting Brown for a bit, then Kerry getting upped to SOS and then going with Warren and Markey, it's been all over the place as we've lost both of our senior senators that had a lot of seniority and pull.
