ISIS Spokesman Who Promised To ‘Raise The Flag Of Allah Over The White House’ Killed In Syria

Last edited Fri Aug 22, 2014, 12:35 PM - Edit history (1)

ISIS spokesman Abu Mosa once promised to “humiliate” the United States on the battlefield and “raise the flag of Allah in the White House,” but he will never get the chance to see his vision put into action.

The spokesman for Islamic State, once known as both ISIS and ISIL, has been killed by the Syrian Army.

Abu Mosa gained fame when he was featured in a Vice News documentary, in which he delivered a big threat to the United States.

“I say to America the Islamic Caliphate has been established and we will not stop.”

Abu Mosa, the press officer of ISIL (ISIS), has been killed in an attack on a Syrian airbase. ISIL is currently fighting against Syrian government forces, in addition to its campaign in Iraq, that has been met by United States airstrikes. He was killed by members of the Syrian army who are loyal to the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad.

The U.S. Department of State confirmed Mosa's death in a tweet:

Should ISIS simply be left alone by those nations? To an extent I can understand an isolationist stance when it comes to countries thousands of miles away, but it seems silly to suggest that the countries under direct threat are somehow wrong for killing militants who are actively engaging them in combat.

How do you propose these countries deal with ISIS?

The group, in its original form, was composed of and supported by a variety of Sunni Arab terrorist insurgent groups, including its predecessor organizations, Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) (2003–2006), Mujahideen Shura Council (2006–2006) and the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) (2006–2013), other insurgent groups such as Jeish al-Taiifa al-Mansoura, Jaysh al-Fatiheen, Jund al-Sahaba and Katbiyan Ansar Al-Tawhid wal Sunnah, and a number of Iraqi tribes that profess Sunni Islam.

Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad (abrreviated JTJ or shortened to Tawhid and Jihad, Tawhid wal-Jihad, sometimes Tawhid al-Jihad, Al Tawhid or Tawhid) was started in about 2000 by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and a combination of foreigners and local Islamist sympathizers. Al-Zarqawi was a Jordanian Salafi who had traveled to Afghanistan to fight in the Soviet-Afghan War, but he arrived after the departure of the Soviet troops and soon returned to his homeland. He eventually returned to Afghanistan, running an Islamic militant training camp near Herat.

They have taken cities, but each time they take a new one, they have to leave some "troops" behind so they end up stretched up.

The territory they "have" is mostly desertic. They can't do much of anything useful with it, and they rule by fear: Won't last long...

A core cadre of 4,000 (with est: 25,000 militia) armed with SA-7s, Stingers, AT-4 Spigot, Type 59 field guns, M198 Howitzers, Humvees, T-55/72 tanks, Blackhawk Helicopters.

3/4 of its $2 billion in finances were captured just this past June, along with millions in gold bullion.

It's relation to the civilian population is no worse than, nor no better than the Taliban's relation with the Afghani people circa 1991-2000 in that the people are submissive and cowed, i.e., their propaganda is nominally effective.

posted that because the source links said it was 'unconfirmed.' And I don't think this is the end of any of this.

At any rate, the guy's no Osama Bin Laden, there will be ten more to take his place. So I can't celebrate this as the end of ISIS, or even a strategic victory.

Just one of many who will be killed, whether he himself was specifically targeted or his position was, IDK. Just didn't want anyone to be shocked if he did pop up again. And as I said, there will be ten more to take his place.

Another article I read that I was going to make an OP out of, cites a general saying the real issue at play here are the 20 million displaced Sunnis in Syria and Iraq. He said that until their needs are addressed, this will keep the fires going.

IMO, among those tens of millions, a sufficient number will join ISIS to create a new homeland, and then go on to repay those they see as the authors of their plight. Or maybe not, as they might stop being warriors and start doing constructive things, but I rather doubt that to be the case right away. They've got a hate fest going on, just as many groups historically. The Visigoths didn't sack Rome just on a whim.

Europe is probably the place on Earth with more wars than we have ever imagined. Europe and the Middle East have been pushing empires back and forth for millenia.

Some think this must be all of America's doing, ascribing a supernatural quality I call the new American exceptionalism to all that is going on in the world. Instead of our being the 'best' we are supposed to fit in a box of being the 'worst.' Thus we're still exceptional.

We are just a flash in the pan in world history. We just think we are more powerful and significant because this is our time and we've been taught we're special and our technology is advance. We're not 'gods.'

We are the most recent world actor, nothing is new and the world did not need us to teach it to be cruel and murderous. That's in our DNA.

We have simply been in a post WW2 system built to prevent another such event. I've read up on what the costs to the now widely hated Allied nations are and we lost a much larger percentage of people, civilian and military, and expended more resources, than the Axis powers did. I keep bringing up this graph to remind me of why we are in the UN, NATO, or why a nuke program began:

The world has been and is now, a mess. Security only lasts for a while, and is an illusion. Many of us want to return to a garden that never existed. But we keep trying.

Just a few thoughts.
