(Sacramento) Bee wins legal battle for names of UC Davis officers in pepper spray incident
Source: Sacramento Bee
After more than two years of legal battles, The Sacramento Bee has prevailed in a court fight to force the release of the names of police officers involved in the November 2011 pepper spray incident on the University of California, Davis, campus.
The final step in the fight came late Wednesday, when the California Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by the police officers union seeking to stop release of the names.
UC officials said late Thursday that they plan to release the officers names later tonight, after the Federated University Police Officers Association makes an effort to notify the officers.

(135,425 posts)What a disgrace to the Kampus Kop force that Klown was! He looked terribly unfit, and it was obvious his judgment was poor as all get out.
I mean, really--you want people to move? Turn on the sprinklers--don't pepper spray 'em. It's like using an anvil to swat a fly. And as a consequence, the school had to pay out money to everyone who got wounded by that idiot.
The pathetic thing is, they had to pay him for his "pain and suffering" because people rightfully mocked his dumb ass.

But we never learned his name? Odd.

(396 posts)There's more of them the poor widdle one we mocked until money rained upon him.
An aside, back in days of yore when I researched for money, the Sacramento Bee was always a pretty impressive paper.

Obviously I do not remember the lawsuit, but I am sure glad the Bee won.
They would have kept the name of the officer in Ferguson secret if they could have I am sure.

(3,366 posts)Our line that they pepper-sprayed was one-person-deep. One of the officers began to remove us physically without the use of weapons. And Lieutenant John Pike ordered them to stop, raising his pepper can and saying Leave them. I want to spray these kids, said an eyewitness named William, according to Davis Wiki.
I hope Im not the scapegoat for this one, Pike was quoted as saying.
Pike, whose annual salary was $121,680, collected full pay during the painfully dragged-out 8-month investigation, while he remained on leave. He was effectively given a paid vacation after an unprovoked attack on students. And somehow it took 8 months to determine what was obvious to most people within seconds of watching the video.
He remains entitled to retirement credit for his years of service
