Source: AP-Excite
ATLANTA (AP) At least one of the two American aid workers who were infected with the Ebola virus was to be discharged Thursday from an Atlanta hospital, a spokeswoman for the aid group he was working for said.
Meanwhile, Emory University Hospital planned to hold a news conference Thursday morning to discuss both patients' discharge.
Alison Geist, a spokeswoman for Samaritan's Purse, told The Associated Press she did not know the exact time Dr. Kent Brantly would be released but confirmed it would happen Thursday.
Meanwhile, Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse, said in a statement that Brantly has recovered.

Good that they are of the few helping on site, but irritated they try to proselytize in any situation without crediting the secular means to their "healing."
They may have proved the efficacy of the secular formula. That is good. Will they sing Christioan praises to the secular labs ( don't know who they are) that saved their lives?
Feeling very grumpy today despite the good news of "healing."
So... If it works, fund it big time and get thee to Liberia, Guinea etc.

(15,220 posts)I'm happy for Dr. Brantly and his family, and I'm excited about the prospects that this success holds for others who may become infected.
Yes, I know there will be issues with money and research, etc. But at least this is a start and I don't see anything negative about two Americans being saved!

(19,240 posts)Since Ebola kills, in part, by fooling the immune system into not mounting an immediate immune response, I wonder if we will find that it affects different people differently and that is why it doesn't kill everyone. I have read that there are populations in Africa that seem to be resistant. It would be great if they could use this information to find a treatment in addition to a vaccine.

(14,910 posts)...because the science and medical communities (with a nod to the State Department and CDC) whose willingness to take extravagant measures in their own lives in order to research and develop these drugs surely had nothing to do with it.
