Michael Brown Family 'Beyond Outraged' at 'Devious' Police Conduct
Source: The UK Guardian 54 minutes ago
The family of Michael Brown is beyond outraged at the devious conduct of police who are trying to assassinate the character of their son, according to a statement issued by three attorneys for the family: The statement reads:
Michael Browns family is beyond outraged at the devious way the police chief has chosen to disseminate piecemeal information in a manner intended to assassinate the character of their son, following such a brutal assassination of his person in broad daylight. There is nothing based on the facts that have been placed before us that can justify the execution style murder of their child by this police officer as he held his hands up, which is the universal sign of surrender.
The prolonged release of the officers name and then the subsequent alleged information regarding a robbery is the reason why the family and the local community have such distrust for the local law enforcement agencies. It is no way transparent to release the still photographs alleged to be Michael Brown and refuse to release the photographs of the officer that executed him.
The police strategy of attempting to blame the victim will not divert our attention, from being focused on the autopsy, ballistics report and the trajectory of the bullets that caused Michaels death and will demonstrate to the world this brutal execution of an unarmed teenager.

(31,828 posts)On Michael Brown's murder yet? The PDF they released today mentioned another 'incident' but not a damn thing about him getting shot in the back in cold blood.

(19,565 posts)One can't help but wonder if they're trying to imply the theft of less than $50 worth of merchandise is now to be considered a viable reason to use lethal force.

(31,828 posts)Is a much worse crime that shooting someone in the back . . .

(19,565 posts)Vs petty theft and pushing someone. Potential felony murder vs. a potential misdemeanor. Who do they think they're kidding?
The factors they want people to focus on is the latter crime is exacerbated by being committed by a "large" black teenager (scary, bad), and the former is mitigated by being committed by a white police officer (fighting scary bad guy).

(14,532 posts)don't understand is this.
Brown allegedly stole a pack of cigarillos from the store. This means that the clerk called the police, the police arrived, took a report and found Brown. What was the time span for all this? I can not make out the time stamps on the pictures. Remember, Brown was still walking home from the store when he was killed. I am not buying the idea that the cop was out looking for a shoplifter. I am not buying the cop even knew of a shoplifter when the incident occurred.

(7,403 posts)My understanding is that someone else had purchased the cigarillo's and as he was leaving the store than Brown snatched them from him and took off. Question, were the cigarillo's still on Brown when he was shot and if not where did they go. Could it have been someone else in those photo's after all? What we know as of now is a weak case.

(14,532 posts)What I do know is that the allegations are highly suspect.
At this point I would not put it past the FPD to find someone who looks like Brown and film a reenactment of a theft themselves.

He'd have far too much to lose.

(16,975 posts)A young man was shot to death by a police officer. For a week, this country has watched the events unfold. The story, the facts were delayed all this time, why? How convenient it is that there is film showing a shoplifting and shoving match and the police, after the long delay producing any information at all, say that Michael Brown was a suspect in that crime. And the cop who killed the young man has left town with his family. The last thing that Michael Brown learned in this world is that life isn't fair and some people don't play by the rules (such as 'HANDS UP' means surrender). The thing we will learn is that even the most innocent among us can and will be smeared, if it means protection for those in power. I just cannot believe that the dead teen was the same person shown in the store film and I don't think the police are going to convince me otherwise--too little, way too late. My condolences to the Brown family.
