Israel cuts ties with UN human rights body

Source: AlJAZEERA

Israel has said it has severed contacts with the UN Human Rights Council after the group's launch last week of an international investigation into Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

The decision, announced by a foreign ministry spokesman on Monday, meant that the fact-finding team the council planned to send to the West Bank will not be allowed to enter the territory or Israel, said spokesman Yigal Palmor.

"We are not working with them anymore," Palmor said about the Geneva-based forum. "We had been participating in meetings, discussions, arranging visits to Israel. All that is over."

The international investigation was launched on Thursday, with the United States isolated in voting against the initiative brought by the Palestinian Authority.

When you have major human rights violators on the Human Rights Council you know things are pretty fucked up.

But for Israel to deny that anything is wrong with the current situation involving the West Bank...is delusional at best!

And the more they try to hide it, the more they will belong on that same fucked up council!

Aren't you? It's impossible to deny that human rights violations by the United States, just say in the past 10 years, far exceed any other country's on that list.

not to mention those tens of thousands in Afghanistan and Pakistan who happened to be in the way of your drones and bombs?

What is the actual body count, you and I don't know. And how could we? Because those people of course don't count, do they? Perhaps they are not people in your eyes. They just happen to be in the way of spreading "democracy."

Also, let's keep our blinders on as regards Guantánamo, Abu Ghraib, about kidnapping people off the street and transferring them to secret locales in countries where they will be tortured, about secret surveillance of you and me ... well the list of human rights violations in this country is pretty lengthy, as you can see, but refuse to apparently.
