ATLANTA A family says a SWAT team raided their home in the middle of the night and seriously injured a 19-month-old boy with a stun grenade.
Alecia Phonesavanh told Channel 2s Ryan Young her child is at the Grady Memorial Hospital burn unit, and is in a medically induced coma.
Phonesavanh said she was at her sister-in-laws home in Habersham County early Wednesday when police raided the house.
"It's my baby. He's only a baby. He didn't deserve any of this," Phonesavanh said.

(18,186 posts)The Administration, the Congress, the DEA, the State of Georgia, the For-profit Prison industry and most especially the Habersham County Special Response team are all complicit in this baby's agonizing terror.
They ripped a hole in this baby's chest as well, but the media are too squeamish to show that pic.
Gotta protect the violent thugs that call themselves law enforcement.
I hate this nation and what it has become

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense.

(27,137 posts)How is this avoided? In many ways. In as many ways as one may find different types of grass. Different species of corn flower. Different types of frogs. Beetles. Snakes. Germs. You do it with: De-centralization -- Non-hierarchicality of systems -- Resource-based decision process, just like we see in the world itself.

V: ''No. This is only the land of take-what-you-want. Anarchy means "without leaders", not "without order". With anarchy comes an age or ordnung, of true order, which is to say voluntary order... this age of ordnung will begin when the mad and incoherent cycle of verwirrung that these bulletins reveal has run its course... This is not anarchy, Eve. This is chaos.

(3,596 posts)9/11 was just good cover for local police forces to weaponize themselves. I think they had always wanted to play "war" but could never justify the expense of the armored personnel carriers, battle armor, etc. 9/11 gave them that cover.
We have got to stop the "war on drugs". We need to be smarter about this.
Facts
1. Drug usage and drug availability has not been affected by the war on drugs
2. De-criminalizing or legalizing at least marijuana takes the profit out of the drug trade
3. Changes to drug sentencing has to happen because our prisons are bulging with non-violent drug offenders
I hope the municipality is sued and has to pay a significant award.
Maybe they will think twice before they do this again.

So if I heard that right the family was at the home because their own home had just burned to the ground. So the baby avoids the fire, but can't get around the grenade to the face.
I hope the drug warriors feel the fires of the hell they belong in.

(39,215 posts)expand Medicaid and refuses to allow ACA. But this family is homeless because their home burned down. Unless they have fantastic jobs they should still qualify for the old Medicaid. What is the story behind this issue?

(16,296 posts)How many pictures we've seen of children being held by their grieving family in war-zones. Their bodies torn by errant shells and misguided intents. Now this, another type of war with all of its brutality and "collateral damage." Damn it all.

(13,071 posts)So, it wasn't pot, but meth? They were cooking meth at the house with a baby?
It sounds as if there were lots of people who should take responsibility for this. The police, and the people who were breaking the law.
