Christie’s Presidential Chances Declining in New Hampshire
Source: Philadelphia Magazine
Who knows if its because of Bridgegate, or because of conservatives underlying suspicion of him, but Chris Christies New Hampshire support in the 2016 presidential election has declined precipitously. Power Line, a conservative blog, reports on the result of a new poll of Granite State Republican primary voters.
For Christie, there is very little good news in this poll. Sure, he places fourth with 12 percent support. But last July, the Granite State poll had him in the lead at 21 percent.
Moreover, Christie is the second choice of only 4 percent of those polled. And his favorability rating of +1 percent is the lowest of any serious or even semi-serious potential candidate in the survey.
New Hampshire is important because its first-in-the-nation primaries set the tone for the presidential nominating race.

(2,966 posts)The 2016 presidential race is two years off. A lot can happen between now and then. Hillary could bow out. The passage of time could soften people on Christie's transgressions. Christie could start to see seriously declining health (this weight loss thing he was on looks like it's no longer happening). Even Hillary could start to see declining health.
I try to ignore presidential prognostications. I don't think we'll know what the landscape will look like until late 2015.

We never know what could happen. Right now, it seems our candidates will be Hillary and Rand. But only a week ago it was Hillary and Jeb. Now Jeb is stalled. Christie's past has so rapidly caught up with him that it's mind boggling, given where we were a year ago with him. And the slow drip from the investigations both state and federal aren't going to make things any better for him. Still, we have to wait it out.
I have been concerned for Hillary's health in the back of my mind for a long while. That concussion she suffered was no small thing. It was scary that the flu caused her to be in such a dehydrated state that she lost consciousness and fell. I know she was going full tilt at the time as SOS but sheesh...health problems do creep up as we age and she is no different.
We tend in this country to go all out for different candidates in these bizarre spurts way too early before the next election. By the time we get to the actual campaign primaries, we're exhausted and this tends to make us not think straight.

(63,912 posts)they actually believe him. Or some do.
I don't know how to logically explain those who supported Herman Cain, or Sarah Palin, but look at those that did and you get your answer as to how these people think. It's kind of a comedy when you think about it.

(30,251 posts)She and some of her staffers got a norovirus infection in one of their trips. The norovirus can dehydrate a person very quickly. She had the misfortune of fainting in the bathroom. A tiled floor is not easy on the head. Ergo the concussion that caused the rare blood clot behind her ear.

(63,912 posts)if so, what was she doing alone when she was so sick? Or was Bill there but she just didn't realize that she was as sick as she was?

(30,251 posts)She was home in DC and she didn't have live-in help. Bill mostly stays in NY when not traveling. He only goes to DC when he has to for some engagement. Hillary would go to their home in Chappaqua whenever she was not traveling herself.
Now that she's no longer the SOS, they both mainly reside in NY. The house in DC is being used as a pied-à-terre.

(30,251 posts)She used to live with her mom in DC, but since Dorothy died she lived there by herself (the weekends she would go home to NY). They bought the DC house after she won the Senate seat. She needed to stay in DC during the week. She continued to live there while she was SOS.
Although she has SS protection, they are outside the house. So if something happened to her in her bathroom, there really wasn't anyone nearby to notice and help. What she should have hired was a live-in housekeeper, but maybe she didn't like the intrusion of having a stranger in the house 24/7.

(63,912 posts)stay with her or simply to call one to see if they could help her. She has such loyal staffs, I am sure one of them would have been glad to bunk in at her place and get her meds and her liquids and make some toast to keep her from being too lightheaded from dehydration and an empty stomach. Intestinal viruses are bad enough things to go through without a woozy feeling when you try to stand up. I recently had some medication for my arthritis pain that made me very dizzy. I had to have my husband help me get to the dining room to eat and then help me get up the stairs so I could just lie in bed and wait for the meds to wear off...it scared me...
I have a widowed friend who is younger than Hillary who was taking a medication in preparation for a trip to Africa to visit her daughter. She became woozy and fainted in the shower but mercifully it was brief and she was able to keep from falling and hitting her head...she slid down on the shower floor...

(30,251 posts)She probably didn't think that it was anything serious. She has plenty of female staffers who would have stayed with her if asked, first one in line would have been Huma (Tony Weiner's wife).
I've heard that it also took a bit of convincing from the doctors to get her to agree to an MRI. Although she had completely passed out, hit her head and was having dizzy spells; she pooh-pooh'd the whole thing and didn't think that it was serious. Thank goodness the doctors insisted on an MRI, not only did she have a concussion, but a follow-up MRI revealed a clot in the brain. Without treatment, the clot could have killed her.
