Mayor Bloomberg says ‘piling on’ of Goldman Sachs is ‘ridiculous’

Source: NY Daily News

BY TINA MOORE

Mayor Bloomberg defended a battered Goldman Sachs on Friday, saying that he thinks "this piling on is ridiculous."

Hizzoner said that he stopped by the investment bank Thursday to show his support after a former employee trashed the firm in a "nasty letter" to a newspaper.

The mayor brushed off the letter writer Greg Smith’s allegations that workers called customers "muppets" to be manipulated for profit.

"I don't know whoever said what," Bloomberg said on WOR Radio's John Gambling Show.

"But even if it was said, it's a few people and, you know, Goldman Sachs is a firm that's been around for well over a hundred years and it's a great firm.”

All companies do this--it's all about profit, which is why they sell bad loans for bonuses, with exploding payments at the end, knowing they'll fail, then package them as loan swaps and sell them to sucker muppets.

I get that the guy worked there for a long time. I feel like he's not getting any credit for finally coming over from the dark-side, into the light. You've got to give him some credit.

Personally if I ever won the lottery (right, that's going to happen, since I don't even buy tickets, and even if I did...) I think I'd rather invest myself.

The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) employee who criticized the company’s culture in a newspaper column bolsters the case for Wall Street restrictions like the Volcker rule, congressional Democrats said.

While the March 14 New York Times (NYT) opinion piece by former executive director Greg Smith drew no requests for hearings or investigations, lawmakers including Senators Carl Levin of Michigan and Jeff Merkley said the article showed why the U.S. needs tighter restrictions on Wall Street practices. The two Democrats authored the Volcker rule’s ban on proprietary trading and conflicts of interest in the Dodd-Frank Act.

Is more that just being a shill for Goldman Sacks. As well it is more than being counter to Occupy at every encounter. it is more than keeping folders on folks all over the the North-East. And somehow no matter how folks feel about the current wars, there should be a parade soon.

And Bloomberg it seems wants to say listen close to me because I have the big bucks.

He is Mitt for New York.

I think it's nice that Mayor Bloomberg stopped by Goldman's offices to "show his support." Very sweet indeed. Right now, the emerging narrative seems to be, "Of course these big financial offices were playing their own customers for suckers! Everybody knew that, and if you didn't, well, them's the breaks. We can't help you for being willfully stupid or ignorant. What we really need right now in the investment and finance community is even less regulation and oversight. So they can create jobs, doncha know."

These crooks make organized crime look like pikers.

Freakin' cesspool of greed is all it is. But Bloomers feels they're fine upstanding corporate citizens. Why I bet they even buy Girl Scout cookies.

Just mentioning 'Goldman Sachs' should make ethical and moral folks hurl.
