Chris Christie to Heckler: 'Sit Down and Keep Quiet or Get Out'

Chris Christie to heckler: "Sit down and keep quiet or get out"

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - Six hecklers were ejected from a town hall with Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J. after shouting about a political payback scandal that has ensnared his administration. Five were escorted out Thursday after yelling about the George Washington Bridge scandal and other matters.

Police removed the sixth, Rowan University student Michael Brein, after he began shouting about the distribution of Superstorm Sandy aid. The 19-year-old says he's affiliated with the left-leaning Working Family Alliance.

After the first heckler interrupted an audience member's question, Christie stopped the questioner and turned to face the heckler.

"Listen, listen. ... Either sit down and keep quiet or get out, one or the other. We are done with you," Christie said to applause from the mostly supportive audience.

Obama would have allowed the person to have a voice. Been to several events and seen it happen where he was heckled and stopped and gave the person a change to air their voice.

One was early in the 08 campaign where some guy posing as a pro-photographer asked if he was going to allow time for the pledge of allegiance. Obama responded by letting this man lead it.

I saw it at another event I was at shortly after he was sworn into office. Event officials were going to remove the heckler and Obama stopped them and let the man speak.

bully Christie to our President, doesn't giving the heckler the floor just encourage heckling? I think it would be more effective to tell the heckler "I will get to you and your comments but after I address those who played by the rules and didn't interrupt another person".

The one who pissed on the Constitution and should have crawled into a hole and we would never have seen him again.

"Nixon journeyed to the Soviet Union in 1986 and on his return sent President Reagan a lengthy memorandum containing foreign policy suggestions and his personal impressions of Mikhail Gorbachev.[214] Following this trip, Nixon was ranked in a Gallup poll as one of the ten most admired men in the world.[242]"

One should be careful how one beats up on people. You never know if you might just be making it possible for them to turn their newly discovered status as victim into a successful play for power or rehabilitation.

That heckler represents a very common anger in NJ, one that eclipses anger over the bridge scandal. And like the bridge scandal, Christie is trying to ignore it or bullshit his way through. It's not working.

Yeah, that heckler was rude and was interrupting another person. But his anger is justified, and he is right about demanding answers. Christie may be able to shut that man up, but the demands for answers will not stop.

this was a golden opportunity to ask Christie direct questions about Sandy aid and Bridgegate-the questions he claims he's never been asked at Town Halls before. Instead the heckler is a prop in a Christie YouTube video. And, after watching the video, this wasn't really all that bad of behavior on Christie's part. Instead, the heckler looks immature and identifies himself with the Working Families Alliance.

As much as I hate Christie, it is a bit hypocritical to excuse it one time and cheer it on the next. When the batshit woman from Code Pink heckled Michelle Obama I was one of the ones who said it was wrong.

Christie is an ******* and the anger he shows when dealing with things convinces me he's not fit for any office, that includes dog catcher.

and its not so much with Christie. Christie telling a heckler to be quiet isn't news. It really isn't. Its part of his stock & trade. After watching the video, this wasn't even vintage Christie bully-mode behavior. He's listening to a question from the woman and this guy is yelling over the questioner. This was not the typical over-the-top rude Christie behavior. Whatever this guy was yelling didn't even make it to the tape. Then he goes outside and identifies himself as being "affiliated" with the Working Family Alliance. Those are the folks who filed the ethics complaint about Samson. Serious people with real policy credentials and clout who have been on the front lines battling Christie when most others have been afraid to. Their representatives don't behave this way. But now to the public, they're "represented" by some guy shouting out-of-turn at Christie from the audience.

Getting into one of these "town hall" meetings is a fete in and of itself. Christie has made a point of saying he's never been asked about Bridgegate or any other scandals at these meetings. That has been by design. The crowds are restricted as much as possible to make them "safe". Instead of using this coup as an opportunity to actually ask Christie direct questions this guy yells incoherently and makes himself a prop for Christie. So, instead of making a real headline by asking Christie the questions he's been ducking for months now you get a YouTube moment that is filed along with the dozens of other instances of similar behavior. Its of zero value.

The woman's question-regarding Abbott Districts- was a Christie softball designed to allow him to spout about sending school aid to distressed districts. Every thing about these town halls is contrived. The requisite old guys with their American Legion hats, sympathetic family types...the entire crowd is a choreographed part of the show. I actually have to question the legitimacy of the heckler-to the point that I would inquire if he was a plant from Christie's side- because this was way more damaging than helpful in making Christie accountable in the public eye.

If this guy was legit, he blew an opportunity to ask Christie a hard well-thought out question that would have made it to the tape-and Christie would have either answered or ducked it-either way the point would have been made. Instead there's just a YouTube video of Christie telling a rude guy to be quiet.

He is a fat loser who will never hold another political office. What does he care if he makes people in the audience angry. They are only his continuances that voted him into office. He is their employee and represents the citizens of New Jersey, but Christie is really just collecting a pay check while he rides out his time in office until the next election.
