Anti-Putin Attacks Flourish on Kiev's Maidan
Source: Agence France Presse
"Putin = Dracula," "Putin = Hitler," "Putin, get out": posters and caricatures attacking the Russian leader have multiplied over the last couple of weeks on the Maidan, Kiev's protest tent-city.
As Russian forces have taken control of Ukraine's Crimean peninsula, protesters have reveled in making comparisons between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler, combining their names in slogans that conclude that "Putler has gone mad."
These personal attacks, unseen until a few weeks ago among the protesters who have camped out since November demanding a new government, contrast with Putin's record popularity in Russia.
Before the ousting of the pro-Moscow government in Kiev last month, anti-Russian sentiment was remarkably absent from posters and banners.

The Czechs are pretty sensitive to what they perceive of as an invasion, and especially the way in which Putin seems to operate; stirring up ethnic Russians in a neighboring country. The upcoming "referendum" (lolol) in Crimea is about as legit as your average election say, under Nicolae Ceausescu or Enver Hoxha. Or any other dictator you can name off the top of your head.
And Putin's exploitation of ethnic Russians, as well as Russian nationalism and ethnocentrism, is a distinctly Hitlerian tactic. It's disgusting, shameful and obscene.

Remember that we still do not have diplomatic relations with Cuba and have the most asinine trade embargo for almost 60 years.
The CIA had no business causing trouble in Ukraine and CIA's tactics in Ukraine have been worse than those of Hitler or Stalin.

(26,060 posts)This blaming the CIA for what happened in Ukraine is absurd - as is your constant holding up RT as a reliable source.

When was the last time a US Ambassador got involved in the internal affairs of a sovereign country? El Salvador? Chile? Guatemala? Iran? Philippines?
Or was that bullshit too?

(950 posts)Hitler and Stalin's tactics were responsible for the deaths of millions in Ukraine.
So far, I haven't seen anything similar done by the CIA in Ukraine.
As far as the Crimea goes, personally, I would let it go; it serves no purpose to anyone for Ukraine and Russia to get into a shooting war over the matter. Mind you, the Russians will most likely indulge in a little ethnic cleansing, so that has to be expected and prepared for by the Ukrainian interim government; they'll have to be prepared to receive an influx of refugees who've been 'encouraged' to leave by the Russian majority.
But I harbor no illusions as to the ruthless game Putin is playing. It's eerily analogous to the philosophy of Aleksander Dugin.

Stalin and the Ukraine:
"The industrialization had a heavy cost for the peasantry, demographically a backbone of the Ukrainian nation. To satisfy the state's need for increased food supplies and to finance industrialization, Stalin instituted a programme of collectivization of agriculture as the state combined the peasants' lands and animals into collective farms and enforced the policies by the regular troops and secret police. Those who resisted were arrested and deported and the increased production quotas were placed on the peasantry. The collectivization had a devastating effect on agricultural productivity. As the members of the collective farms were not allowed to receive any grain until sometimes unrealistic quotas were met, starvation in the Soviet Union became more common. In 193233, millions starved to death in a famine known as Holodomor or "Great Famine".Scholars are divided as to whether this famine fits the definition of genocide, but the Ukrainian parliament and other countries recognize it as such."
Hitler:
"The vast majority of the fighting in World War II took place on the Eastern Front. It has been estimated that 93% of all German casualties took place on the Eastern Front. The total losses inflicted upon the Ukrainian population during the war are estimated between five and eight million, including estimated one and a half million Jews killed by the Einsatzgruppen, sometimes with the help of local collaborators. Of the estimated 8.7 million Soviet troops who fell in battle against the Nazis, 1.4 million were ethnic Ukrainians."
Just how many Ukrainians has the CIA killed?
