Court confirms death sentence in India gang rape

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW DELHI (AP) — A New Delhi court has confirmed the death penalty imposed by a lower court to four men convicted for the gang rape and murder of a young woman on a bus in December 2012.

A special fast track court had sentenced the men in September, saying their crime was one of the rarest of rare cases that warranted the death penalty.

The attack on the 23-year-old medical student unleashed a wave of public anger over the treatment of women in India. The nationwide outcry led the federal government to rush legislation increasing prison terms for rapists and criminalizing voyeurism, stalking, acid attacks and the trafficking of women.

A defense lawyer said the men would appeal Thursday’s decision in the Supreme Court.

Speed up the supreme court appeal, deny presidential clemency and hang those jerks. They should not see 2015.

The swift justice will send a strong message to rapists in India that the days of absent or lax justice are over.

And ask them if they thought it was worth it.

"Hey guys! I got an idea how we can attack, injure, humiliate and scar for life an innocent woman, and all we have to do for it is die! Sound great?"

I just don't understand people like that...

They didn't just rape her guts to a pulp with a steel pipe. They pulled her intestines out through the remains of her vagina before throwing her off the moving bus.

Hanging is too good for those vermin.

The proper way please, where the hanging isn't to the point of death. I'd rather they be awake to see their genitals cut off and burnt and their intestines spilled onto the dirt.

I have great compassion for those who deserve it...and equally strong feelings for those who deserve it the other way as well. It's human nature and I am neither ashamed nor apologetic for it.

I'm not going to cheer for this I would much rather have them spend the rest of there lives in prison. Eye for an eye that was how they solved problems 2000 year ago. Much of the world has moved beyond that, only second rate civilizations practice the death penalty (US included.)

They are a few magnitudes father along the civilization scale then they US. In addition and they will outlaw the death penalty and join the rest of the civilized world far sooner the the US will.

I'm also opposed to rape and murder. While I would not have requested the death penalty if I were the prosecutor, or voted for it if I were on the jury, the sentence has been handed down. I can't feel sorry for those monsters. I wouldn't wish death on them, but I won't feel remorse when they're gone.

As Mark Twain once said: "I never wished death on anyone, but I have read a number of obituaries with great satisfaction."
