On Tuesday, South by Southwest Interactive announced that Edward Snowden, who ignited a firestorm on privacy and the NSA when he leaked documents as a contractor for the organizations, will speak via videoconference at 11 a.m. March 10.
The "Virtual Conversation with Edward Snowden" will be live-streamed by The Texas Tribune. Snowden will be interviewed by Christopher Soghoian, principal technologist at the American Civil Liberties Union. It will also be available afterward on the ACLU website for free.
Privacy, the technology of spying and the debate over leaking documents will be much-discussed topics at this year's SXSW Interactive, which runs Friday through Tuesday. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will speak in a similarly videoconferenced session on Saturday. And Glenn Greenwald, who reported on the Snowden leaks is scheduled for a Monday session.
