Gov. Jerry Brown announces reelection bid

Source: LA Times

SACRAMENTO -- Gov. Jerry Brown finally made it official Thursday -- he’s running for reelection.

Brown filed paperwork in Alameda County to seek an unprecedented fourth and final term as governor. He had been widely expected to make the move, but had remained coy about his official plans as recently as Wednesday.

But with the June primary less than 10 weeks away, and with Brown scheduled to make a speech to the state Democratic Party convention in Los Angeles next weekend, the 75-year-old governor pulled the trigger on Thursday.

Brown sent out a letter to supporters announcing his run. “There is nothing I would rather do," he wrote. "So today, I have taken out the papers to run for re-election."

Been a lot less time for me. Brown was Governor when I moved here in the 70s. I think he did a great job cleaning up after that other guy. Seems Brown is the one we need to clean up the messes the republicans make.

He was given that nickname by people who too set in their ways to see all of the good he was trying to do.

he had come to admire Jerry Brown.

i find him totally refreshing. considering he's from a political family, he's one of the most grounded people i've seen in public life.

The repuke bench is thin and the heavyweights won't go on a suicidal mission of running against Jerry. I suspect they will have a poor unsuspecting sacrificial lamb running against JB.

I'd love to see Darrell Issa run against him and get thoroughly humiliated with all his dirt becoming front page news day-in day-out but he won't run.

Of course many on this board think he's not liberal or progressive enough... and they would be wrong. He's just right for what California needs right now.

besides the typical Republican "pro business" agenda (of course including the typical "Jerry Brown will tax your business out of the state" and lies about the state economy) he'll present this Assemblyman from San Bernardino is gonna get the fundie vote based on his opposition to the transgender students' rights bill signed by Brown. Oh yeah...GUNZ.

His only shot (that he's probably praying for) is for Brown to develop health problems close to the election.
