Source: NFL begins exploring Super Bowl XLIX relocation options.

Even as momentum continues to build against Arizona's controversial bill that would allow businesses to deny service to gay couples on religious grounds, the NFL on Wednesday morning began investigating the necessary steps to move next season's Super Bowl from the Phoenix area, if the proposal becomes law, a source close to the situation confirmed.
The Tampa Bay area finished as the runner-up and was the only other finalist in the bidding for Super Bowl XLIX, which was awarded to Arizona in October 2011, and would in all likelihood be the NFL's first option for relocating the game at this relatively late date.

(468 posts)If it goes to, say, Florida or Texas, it's all the same shit. Hell, move it to Denver - the cold didn't scare the NFL away from New Jersey this year....

(13,616 posts)as scummy as flo pols are, rick scott did come out and say he wound veto any similar bill.. Giving Tampa the bowl would be a nice way of saying "see, we will reward you for turning on your fellow gop"

(468 posts)I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tampa and lived in Orlando and Jacksonville for a couple years, but Scott scurried like a little chickenshit in an interview on MSNBC just yesterday morning. Ducking and dodging like a pro, he never answered a single question from either Thomas Roberts or Ari Melber (I can't remember). It was the worst display of cowardice I have ever seen. He spun around like a top.

(80 posts)Start acting. The sooner that Arizona gets isolated from the rest of the US, the better. Their ideals and beliefs obviously are not in line with America as a whole.

(32,081 posts)by moving the Super Bowl asap. Have the NFL,MLB,NHL, and the NBA all restrict any team from playing a game in that state as long as those state legislators are still in office. Boycott anything, and everything coming in or out of the state. Cut them off........make them suffer. If there are any "good people" left in Arizona, help them to move out. Turn it over to the baggers and see how long it takes before they turn on themselves.
Bigotry, racism, misogyny, homophobia, nor xenophobia, are supported by our Constitution. Comply, or get out.

(32,081 posts)Judge Garcia says the ban on gay marriage is against the equal protection clause (14th amendment). Probably will be overruled by the 5th Circuit but these cases are being filed in all the jurisdictions.
Andy Borowitz had an amusing line on Facebook this afternoon when he said folks who are gay should not avoid Arizona - they should move there and take over. He is always funny but he's also correct. We've got to stand up to their nonsense.

(95,337 posts)Is reason enough to move it. Sure it's going to be vetoed but Arizona congress has shown what hateful people they are

(8,377 posts)Hell, three of the Republicans who voted for it are now asking Brewer to veto it. They should have the courage and decency to put it up to a new vote in the legislature. Voting for it and then making Brewer cover their asses is completely chickenshit.
The NFL should just move the Super Bowl now. There are 3 or 4 cities that would be happy to step up and have the ability to do it right. The NFL needs to slap those bastards silly with this -- otherwise they will just be back at the same games in a few more weeks.

(9,696 posts)Personally, I think they should loose the Super Bowl for even considering this legislation.
BTW, if this legislation passes, can I deny service to anyone who I consider not christian enough?

And there's a decent chance we'd see the first Super Bowl team with home field advantage.
