Obama to visit Saudi Arabia amid tensions over Iran, Syria - report

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in March on a mission to smooth tensions with Washington's main Arab ally over U.S. policy on Iran's nuclear program and the civil war in Syria, a newspaper reported.

Obama is preparing to meet with King Abdullah for a summit, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing unnamed Arab officials briefed on the meetings.

"This is about a deteriorating relationship" and declining trust, said a senior Arab official in discussing the need for the summit, which was pulled together in recent days, the newspaper reported.

A White House spokeswoman declined to comment.

- This is like when you break-up with your ex, but you agreed to go to this before the break-up -- so now you have to go back and smile and pretend like you still care in front of her relatives so everyone in the neighborhood will still respect her and stuff.......

Now they won't be able to sell nearly as much of their over-priced oil, at least not at the even more inflated prices they had planned to charge. Must be a real hit to their cash flow.

It won't be pretty. The Saudis funneled a lot of dark money to his campaign (Romney's campaign, too) for certain outcomes that have not transpired.

The Saudis have a lot riding on the Sunni-Shi'ite regional war from Lebanon to Pakistan.

By the way, the meeting is not about oil. We do not get much oil from Saudi Arabia and most of the gulf oil goes to Asia. Grist for the mill. However, the Saudis are able to exert market influence through supply variations.

The good news is that the expanding war may change Iran's approach to the US. Iran needs a powerful ally, temporarily or permanently. I vote temporarily.

There's no legitimate reason to go to the Saudis, and lots of good reasons to stay away.

Fools rush in, though....

Obama has only made one trip to Israel since being elected as president. A trip to a Muslim nation would even the score so he can't go and BENGHAZI!!!

" President Barack Obama plans to travel to Saudi Arabia in March on a mission to smooth tensions with Washington's main Arab ally...This is about a deteriorating relationship and declining trust, said a senior Arab official in discussing the need for the summit..."

Fix a relationship that is based on destruction: continued use fossil fuel is literally killing the planet and lest we forget, Osama and 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.
