Man Held in Threatening Gay, Socialist Officials
SEATTLE January 18, 2014 (AP)

A 32-year-old man accused of threatening Seattle's openly gay mayor and a socialist City Council member in Facebook postings was ordered held in jail Friday on $600,000 bail.

Mitchell Munro Taylor of Seattle was arrested Thursday night, two days after Mayor Ed Murray's staff found more than 20 threatening, anti-gay postings from the man's account on Murray's Facebook page, court documents said.

One post said "Mayor, meet Harvey Milk," a reference to a gay rights activist and San Francisco board of supervisors member who was fatally shot in 1978, The Seattle Times reported ( http://is.gd/atEoNf ).

Another post on the mayor's page said "death to socialist council member." Kshama Sawant is the first socialist City Council member in Seattle's modern history. While she was not named directly, police said they think she was the target of that post.

Some conservative pundit will turn this into another conspiracy about how "See! Dem Dere Socialists are trying to take over America"

You threaten a government official your going to be put in Jail. In ANY Country. Don't Get me wrong though, I do think the bail is set a little too high. Honestly a part of me thinks a lot what he was saying is hyperbole. A couple nights in Jail and a fine will probably get him to cut it out.

Man years ago when I was 18 a friends mother told the three of us she was going to shoot her husband for having an affair. We laughed it off. Sure enough three days later she did it. The husband lived then she received five years in the slammer in a plea deal.

Imagine what this country would be like if all the liberal icons that have been assassinated or died in some "accident" weren't killed but actually were able to continue their work. Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King most of all. Sometimes I think the timidity of the modern Democratic party is because of the unspoken threat of violence from the conservatives and all these untimely deaths make the threats credible. Their reputation is solid, not just gossip, when right-wing groups threaten violence.

I think that's the basis for so much homophobia - because it makes NO sense that it's political. The "socialist" thing I kinda get, but not really, not to threaten anyone with death! I truly wonder what makes some folks not just step over the line, but leap over it, thinking there's anything but rocks at the bottom.........

very well. Fortunately the fire was discovered and extinguished quickly, and all 750 guests escaped outside safely (& in an orderly and calm manner-could you imagine if a fire broke out in a Neo Nazi meeting, it'd be a melee!).

Still haven't caught the arsonist, but the police just released security pics of the suspect a few days ago, so hopefully that depraved individual will be arrested soon, too.

Fox News and RW Hate Radio incites these people and then leaves them twisting in the wind instead of bailing them out.

Conservative responsiblity in action.

<snip>
On Friday, defense lawyer Eric Lindell told King County District Court Judge Arthur Chapman that his client has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism. He said his client had been off his medications and asked that bail be set at $10,000. Deputy Prosecutor Gary Ernsdorff sought $1 million bail.

So now are we all to believe that people with Asperger's and autism are a danger to the general public?
