Christie Point Man At The Center Of Bridge Scandal Pleads The Fifth

Source: Business Insider

David Wildstein, the Former Port Authority Director of Interstate Capital Projects and an ally of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, cited his right to plead the Fifth Amendment in testimony Thursday on his role in a burgeoning George Washington Bridge scandal.

Wildstein resigned last month amid the growing controversy. His attorney filed a motion on Wednesday asking a judge to squash a subpoena compelling Wildstein to testify.

He repeatedly cited his right to plead the Fifth Amendment when asked questions by John Wisniewski, the chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee holding the hearing.

Just saying... They are progressive in what they report, but the quality isn't there.

Very wise of him and maybe bad for Christie. Probably also means he has a good lawyer. Also maybe bad for Christie.

One has an absolute right to assert the 5th to avoid answering in any governmental hearing where liability might attach.

The only way this extends is if Wildstein is offered immunity in exchange for testimony.

(those strongly suggesting criminality) The committee should call Kelly, then Wildstein, then christie and offer immunity from prosecution to the first one that comes forward and a promise to use the full weight of the law on the second and third place finishers.

My guess is Kelly will get there first because she has the most exposure. Wildstein may have did the deed; but it is clear that he did so on someone else's order ... the question is, "was it her order, Christie's order, or someone else's?"

Though I doubt Christie would. He'll continue to make himself out to be the victim.

Weren't there more people involved? Someone has to start talking eventually.

once immunity is granted, you lose the ability to plead the 5th. So you only need one person ... It'll be between Wildstein and Kelly to take the grant ... I'm thinking that gonna be Ms. Kelly.

one of the others, such as Kelly or Wildstein, then confront Christie on what they said...

Otherwise, we'll just get more of Christie's lies...
