McCain To Christie: Put This Scandal To Bed

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT – JANUARY 9, 2014, 9:37 AM EST

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said Thursday that the only way Chris Christie can bring a swift end to the George Washington Bridge scandal is to answer every question posed to him — even if it necessitates a marathon press conference.

"Put everything on the table. Answer every question," McCain advised Christie during an interview on MSNBC.

"If it's a three-hour press conference, answer every question. Answer every question, every comment. And then move on. The last thing you need is one of these things to be dragged out. I can say that from personal experience, my friend."

Christie is scheduled to address the scandal on camera for the first time at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Confess only what is already known anyways and apologize for it. Hope that the media is satisfied having caught you and stops digging.

Before 2008, he was pretty much regarded as accessible (and well-liked) by the press and more-or-less "straight talking" as billed.

But during the campaign, he listened to the DC "professionals", did a 180 and pretty much ignored any unscripted back and forth with the press -- it really hurt him, I think.

and under investigation into the 90s before being deemed having not acted improperly, but of having used "poor judgement."
I'll leave it to better scholars than I am to say whether he "put everything on the table" back then.

Do as I say, not as I did, when it might be related to the deaths of 134 sailors.

Funny he wants to keep Benghazi going as long as Obama is President that isn't a scandal at all but he wants fat boy to put this serious matter that is a scandal behind him because he's got a R in front of his name.

Christie joked about it and was dismissive of reporters who asked about this in October. Then he came back in December (conveniently after the election) and basically said yeah, well, mistakes were made, aides at the Port Authority have resigned, and none of my aides in the Governor's office were involved. How did he know that, you ask? He asked them! Well allrighty then, nothing to see here. But - in fact, there was, and we learned that after Christie's thorough investigation, of course - Oh wait, no we didn't - it was the subpeona of the the emails. So exactly what was happening from September to January in terms of Chris Christie finding out what his appointees at the Port Authority were up to????????? Does anyone really believe that he wasn't twisting arms to get the whole story? On the contrary, at one point (may have been December) Christie was wondering out loud about how many access lanes Ft. Lee should have in what in retrospect seems to be providing cover for the "traffic study" story. How the heck is he going to explain that in a three hour press conference? Hardly anyone was taking that story seriously by that time. How can Christie answer that?
