(CNN) -- Actor James Avery, who played the beloved Uncle Phil on the hit 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," died Tuesday, his publicist confirmed. He was 65.

(541 posts)James Avery was also brilliant as the hard-nosed driving instructor in the seldom-mentioned 1988 movie "License to Drive". He was so memorable in that role. Rest in peace, Mr. Avery.
