Denver gives out recreational pot sales licenses
By KRISTEN WYATT, Associated Press | December 27, 2013 | Updated: December 28, 2013 2:31am

DENVER (AP) — The first batch of Denver businesses approved to sell recreational marijuana got their licenses Friday, the owners mugging for pictures and saying they never thought they'd see the day when they'd get a permit to sell pot.

Applause broke out and cameras whirred when the first license was issued from the city's Department of Excise and Licenses. The city awarded 14 licenses for retail shops, 17 licenses for pot growers and three licenses for makers of cannabis-infused products such as pot brownies.

One businessman joked about getting arrested for having a joint at a 1971 Black Sabbath concert. Others shared hugs and stories about marijuana's route to legalization.

"I think it's about time that adults can imbibe in marijuana," said Donald Andrews of one of the retail shops, LoDo Wellness Center in downtown Denver.

before predicting the worst.

The feds came down on a group of Colombian's last month - and I'm just fine with that.
I don't want to buy weed from the Colombian cartel - that's the way the law was set up.
Local growers, local sellers, better schools.

All the laws, fees and over-regulation gives the Feds and local police a new target of 'lawbreakers'. People to 'sting',arrest, fine and jail.

Like back in the days the Feds went after moonshiners, stills and alcohol runners.

That has never been a problem.

The new problem is the piss test that shows positive for metabolites up to two months causing a loss of employment or denial of hiring.

Of course all the bad crap like heroin, meth, LSD etc are gone in days.

Time to change that rule!
