California health exchange tops 400,000 enrolled prior to deadline

Source: LA Times

California's health insurance exchange said more than 400,000 people have signed up for health plans ahead of Monday's enrollment deadline as part of the Affordable Care Act.

The Covered California exchange said the latest figures are based on preliminary data through Sunday, when about 27,000 people picked an insurance company. Enrollment Friday was even higher, at 29,000 people, according to the exchange.

"We very much expect today will be a big day," Peter Lee, executive director of Covered California, said Monday. "We are seeing huge interest online."

The state's latest official figures were 156,000 enrolled in health plans through Dec. 7, and an additional 179,000 people who had qualified for an expansion of Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program.

...she may still be able to get insurance starting on January 1st depending on the facts of her case:

http://www.mercurynews.com/health/ci_24784866/health-care-deadline-extension-doesnt-apply-california

Peter Lee, the executive director of Covered California, told reporters there would be some wiggle room for people who started the enrollment process Monday but were unable to finish it because of factors beyond their control.

"We're going to help people get across the finish line," he said, meaning some people who didn't complete their applications Monday could still get insurance starting Jan. 1. Who exactly qualifies for this added help will be determined on a case-by-case basis, he said.

It is MINUS 10 below here right now (not wind chill). Anyway, they were horrible just complaining about Obama and the extended times and how the site is broke. After a few moments I decided I did not want to ruin christmas day eve so I turned it off.

The horrible anger some people have towards this issue is amazing. They all can't be trolls. The Faux News Scum "people" are winning. I hope that the ultimate victory of ACA shuts these fucking nut jobs up but right now its so fucking stupid, sorry for the language...

It seems that whatever numbers we put "on the board" these bastards have an answer. Now its "well those numbers hardly cancel out the "people who had their policies canceled" meme..

I think I (we) just need to let things settle down and hopefully enough people sign up and enough young to old people ratios sign up and it all works out for the COUNTRY!!!!!!!

I have been watching this website way too much:

We will show these 'pugs whats what in the end; in the meantime its gonna be messy I think...

I get SO tired of a CBS radio channel in Los Angeles (1070 AM)...anytime they talk about the ACA, it is ALWAYS Obamacare...I don't think they've ever called it the ACA.

It ticks me off as they say Obamacare in a snarky way.
