Canada set up spy posts for U.S., new Snowden document shows

Source: CBC News

Canada has set up spying posts and conducted espionage at the request of the U.S. National Security Agency, according to top secret documents retrieved by US whistleblower Edward Snowden and reported exclusively by CBC News.

The information is contained in a four-page document marked Top Secret by the NSA and dated April 3, 2013. This makes it one of the freshest documents available in a trove of over 50,000 pages.

CBC has decided not to publish much of the information in the document because the information would be harmful to Canadian national security.

The document, a briefing note prepared for a senior leader at the NSA, describes the nature of the intelligence relationship between the United States' largest spy agency and its Canadian partner, the Communications Security Establishment Canada.

Take your pick:

Because he is a friend of the US, for better or for worse. (Like a marriage)
Because he wants to leave office wealthy
Because he is convinced that the exploitation of the land is decreed by the bible.
Because he's a religious neo-con with a streak of white supremacist.
or all of the above.

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
NSA is coming to town
NSA is coming to town
NSA is coming to town

He's making a list,
Checking it twice;
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
NSA is coming to town
NSA is coming to town
NSA is coming to town

They see you when you're sleeping
They know when you're awake
They know if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

Watch the two- and three-year-olds with Santa. The smart ones don't want to sit on his lap. They know he's been watching then. He knows he is making his list. After all, our whole society tells them so. That song is heard at home, school, everywhere, and two- and three-year-olds know that mom and dad are sure watching them carefully

Smart adults including me are just as wary of the NSA. What is happening, what they are doing, is potentially very dangerous. Imagine a Ted Cruz checking their list twice and deciding who's naughty and nice. Don't think it will happen? Just wait. It could. To think it couldn't is foolish.

Obama has promised change in the NSA. He claims he has civil rights advocates looking the programs over. I'd like to see the names and resumes of the people reviewing the activities of the NSA. I have great difficulty trusting Obama on this one. The names I have seen so far on the list of people reviewing the NSA scoundrels did not reassure me at all. Anyone can call themselves a civil rights advocate. I want to know what that review uncovers.

A call or internet connection crosses into Canada it could be captured, without the US breaking any rules. It then would bounce back into the US and everyone is happy. No rules broken. Everyone ignorant. And everyone happy!
