GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter: Nuke Iran!

Source: salon.com

Forget John McCain’s “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran” — how about “tactically nuke Iran” instead? That’s the advice, at least, offered on Wednesday by Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter.

Speaking during an interview on C-SPAN, Hunter recommended the United States implement “tactical nuclear devices” in the event of an armed confrontation with Iran. ”I think if you have to hit Iran, you don’t put boots on the ground,” Hunter said. “You do it with tactical nuclear devices, and you set them back a decade or two or three.”

While Hunter said he “sure as hell” hopes there’s no war between the U.S. and Iran, he also disparaged the recent deal struck between the global community and Iran, saying, ”I don’t think this does anything, frankly.” ...........

Despite Hunter’s skepticism about diplomacy, however, the California representative was willing to acknowledge the war-weariness among the general American public — and the troubled results of the United States’ nation-building in the Middle East. “I think America now knows its limitations in that area and what we can do,” he said. “Do we want to spend 20 years [in Iran] after we tear it down to build it back up again so that it isn’t run by a crazy tyrannical leader like has happened in, let’s say Iraq and Afghanistan again. You’ve got some crazy guys running the governments there.”

I can think of several state governments and one particular branch of the Federal government that this statement also applies to, Duncan.

3. Hunter hopes there's no war against Iran, yet he advocates bombing Iran

We Californians haven't gotten rid of enough Republicans.

BTW, Mr. Hunter, we've had some crazy guys running the government here, like Bush the Frat Boy, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Oh, you think I'm just being partisan? OK, you can have Robert Rubin, Larry Summers and Tim Geithner, too. Happy? Also, Mr. Hunter, I seem to recall Secretary Kerry trying to distinguish going to war with bombing a sovereign state not too long ago. I called that a lot of hooey then, but as it turned out the Secretary was waving a big around while speaking softly behind the scenes in secret negotiations. What's your excuse?

This 6 month agreement is just a baby step to try and establish trust so a larger agreement can be struck. Most of the onus is on Iran but a small percent of the sanctions are pulled back so both sides have a stake in seeing this through. Nobody is claiming it does any thing else. So what would Hunter Duncan do to break the deadlock that has been in place for decades, besides threaten Iran with nuclear annihilation.

This is the goof that inherited this Congressional seat from his daddy just because he served in the military. What are the people in this district thinking just turning the seat over to another war mongrel.
