Fox News host: Obamacare ‘touches so many people’s lives’ unlike ‘Katrina or the Iraq war’
Source: Raw Story
Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Monday suggested that President Barack Obamas health care law was even worse than devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina or the Iraq War because it touches so many peoples lives.
In a segment on Americas Newsroom, MacCallum invited Fox News contributor Brit Hume to examine a recent conservative claim that the president was trying to change the subject from the health care reform law by negotiating to stop Irans nuclear weapons program.
Thats certainly part of it, Hume observed. But these are issues Iran, immigration that the president was going to have to address anyway, whatever his standing and whatever the condition of his health insurance reform plan.
What I keep coming back to in all of this is unlike other issues Katrina or the Iraq war that weve seen in [President George W. Bush's] second term, this is something that touches so many peoples lives across the country, MacCallum opined. And you dont know whether the president is going to be able to successfully dodge it.

I try to be sparing with the word evil when describing politicians and pundits, but the attempt to depict increased access to health care as a negative thing, and efforts to create hysteria and exploit fear/ignorance really deserves that adjective.

(12,821 posts)... they just present it as a given that it is a failure, and the story now is how President Obama is going to dodge it, and how America is going to have to deal with it, etc.
Weird, too, is that they kind of admit that Katrina and Iraq War are actually problems...

(2,322 posts)Seriously. Let's get some ideas generated and executed here and now to give this absurdity more negative attention than Fox's attempt to give ACA negative attention.
Let's do it now. And let's do it fast. And let's make sure it sticks and embarrasses them for months to come.

(33,400 posts)Its Fox Viewers, AKA Fox Victims. Many are formerly rational people (AKA my 77 y.o. Dad) who have let propaganda disguised as news convince them to lose the last vestiges of their Empathy.
Fear and slander are powerful manipulators, and the truth is complicated. Hearing, and understanding that one has been blatantly lied to, is impossible for people when their self-image is involved. After all, admitting they believed propaganda means admitting they are dumb.
So much easier to let the dulcet tones slip through one's mind, validating your fears and predjudices, hour after hour.

(2,012 posts)Can you even imagine how many lives "have been touched?" Crazies MacCallum and Hume might schedule an interview with a vet who lived through 5 or 6 deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and ask him about the "horrifying devastation" caused by Obamacare.
