Ex-DuPont Employee Admits to Selling Trade Secrets to Chinese Firm

A former employee of DuPont & Co. pleaded guilty in federal court here Thursday to taking trade secrets from the company and selling them to a Chinese government-owned firm.

"I used DuPont trade secrets to try to help Pangang Group Co., which is state-owned" by the Chinese government, Delaware resident Tze Chao said in court Thursday.

Mr. Chao worked for DuPont for 36 years, and kept documents detailing trade secrets after his 2002 retirement, Mr. Chao and prosecutors said.

Mr. Chao, a U.S. citizen, faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
