Rutgers AD Julie Hermann, Tyree family meet to discuss alleged bullying case

In a meeting brokered by the Rev. DeForest “Buster” Soaries Jr., the parents of Jevon Tyree sat down in a church this morning with Rutgers University athletic director Julie Hermann to talk with her for the first time about how the school handled the son’s contention he was bullied by a Rutgers football coach, and then ignored when he complained.
The meeting came after a week of allegations by the family who say the university never properly addressed their son’s situation. They also had said Hermann never spoke with any of them, as she has claimed.
Jevon Tyree left the team earlier this month after claiming he had been bullied by defensive coordinator Dave Cohen last spring. He also complained that he had been excluded frrom team meetings and benched in favor of another player
In a statement by Rutgers, officials said the two sides met to “clarify misunderstandings and resolve the issues” put in play since the incident came to light in a story first reported by nj.com.
