Lawyers notify court that Whitey Bulger will appeal conviction

Source: Boston Globe

James J. “Whitey” Bulger’s lawyers notified a federal court in Boston today that the notorious former South Boston crime boss will appeal the racketeering conviction that sent him to prison for life.

The defense filed the “notice of appeal” after US District Judge Denise J. Casper entered the judgment on the case docket.

In August, a jury convicted Bulger, 84, of participating in 11 murders, drug trafficking, extortion, money laundering and other crimes while running a sprawling criminal enterprise from the 1970s through the 1990s.

Last week Casper sentenced him sentenced to two consecutive life prison terms.

He's going to break up his long, interminable days with occasional outings to the courthouse! Doubt it'll do him any good, but whatever...!
