No huge drop in Obamacare support despite rocky rollout: Reuters/Ipsos poll
Source: Reuters
The troubled rollout of President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law has hurt the popularity of the initiative, but the decline has been fairly modest, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Monday.
Forty-one percent of Americans expressed support for the 2010 law popularly known as Obamacare in a survey conducted from Thursday to Monday. That was down 3 percentage points from a Reuters/Ipsos poll taken from September 27 to October 1.
Opposition to the healthcare law stood at 59 percent in the latest poll, versus 56 percent in the earlier survey.
There has been some shift ... but the shift has been small," said Ipsos pollster Chris Jackson.

I have to say that this is pretty good news given that the media has pretty much jumped the shark in parroting right wing talking points comparing the rollout with Watergate, the Invasion of Iraq, Katrina, you name it.

(154 posts)after all the media blasting and tea baggers hemming and hawing all over the news, support only drops 3%. that's not even out of the margin of error.

(4,234 posts)people are going to suspect that maybe what you are apologizing for is only the tip of the iceberg. Obama needs to hit the positives of the ACA every time he gets the chance and quit apologizing. He might also point out the approximately 16 efforts by GOP pranksters and hackers to "destroy" the ACA web site. Plus the barrage of criticism from GOP reps etc. who have never had a single positive or constructive suggestion in the past to help Americans in need of health care.

Public opposition to health care law grows

Both President Obama and his signature health law have hit new lows after a rocky past month for the White House, according to a Washington Post/ABC News poll released Tuesday.
Opposition to the Affordable Care Act hit a new high in the Post/ABC survey, with 57% saying they oppose the law including 46% who say theyre strongly against it. A month ago, voters said they were split on approval.
Thats along the same trajectory as the NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey earlier this month that showed 49% believed the ACA was a bad idea the highest number in the NBC survey ever.
The presidents own public perception has also slid in the Post/ABC poll as many Americans have seen their insurance policies cancelled despite repeated assurances that If you like your plan, you can keep it. While the administration tried to mitigate this with a new rule change last week, it doesnt look to be enough 63% say they disapprove of Obamas handling of the laws implementation, up 10 points from last months poll.
Fifty-five percent also said they disapprove of how Obama is handling his job as president. Fifty-seven percent say they disapprove of how hes handling the economy, and 70% say they think the country is on the wrong track. Fifty-three percent say the president is not a strong leader, and 56% say hes not a good manager.
Fifty-seven percent said they support making changes to the health care law but theres a critical divide. While 58% say they support requiring companies with over 50 workers to provide insurance or pay a fine, 65% say they oppose requiring individuals to have health insurance or pay a fine.

(17,390 posts)...this story just does not show that views on the ACA have not changed much from earlier polling data. The poll does contain newer data regarding attitudes toward President Obama generally, but this is largely due to the biased media onslaught. As the ACA itself, the percentages are roughly the same at about 43% approving, same as the Reuters poll. Put another way, the polling data is about the same as the Reuters poll, but MSNBC decided to try place it into the narrative of attacking the President and Democrats.
