University of Utah doctor: Say 'yes' to cannabis oil for kids

Source: Salt Lake Tribune

The University of Utah's top pediatric neurologist has come out in support of families seeking access to a cannabis extract that has proven successful at stopping seizures.

"I would like to express my strong belief that (cannabidiol)-based oils (referred to here in Utah as Alepsia) should be available as soon as possible to Utah children with severe epilepsy. The substance is not psychoactíve or hallucinogenic, it contains less THC than do other materials that can be legally purchased in Utah, and it has absolutely no abuse potential," declared U. pediatric neurology professor Francis Filloux in a Nov. 11 letter of support.

Filloux is the first Utah physician to publicly endorse cannabis as a viable treatment for children with severe, intractable epilepsy. Chief of the U.’s Division of Pediatric Neurology, he has cared for children with epilepsy for 25 years, specializing in Dravet syndrome.

Citing case "extensive pre-clinical" data and studies about Dravet syndrome patients finding seizure relief from marijuana extracts high in cannabidiol (CBD) and low in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that gives users a high, Filloux argues CBD oil appears to be safe and holds "great promise as an anti-epileptic agent."

it does help with a whole lot of things including seizures in adults. Oils and extracts. Depends on what state she is in though as to acquiring it. Do some research "Rick Simpson oil" is good keyword for videos and other info as to how what and where....

Perhaps someone in one can help you out? it is easy to make in small quantities and there are videos of the process at the rick simpson sites....

The state of the state of Minn medical marijuana right now with a bill pending.... http://www.mpp.org/states/minnesota/

Contact your (or her) legislature about changing the laws. I personally think every state needs to go for full legalization now. nobody cares. Forget the Medical issue now, that is still a kind of illegality....and is fraught with restrictions and all that and may even make tinctures and concentrates illegal...

People taking action is what does it. No initiative process in Minn, so that's out (Perhaps that also needs to be changed?) so pressure politicos, stage rallies, 420 events. The model is out there we did it in CA and now everywhere else is going with it.

Tie the pot thing to the initiative thing, with an example of Gov't not working for an overwhelming majority of people....
