U.S. Tries To Pacify Israeli Public Over Iran Deal

Source: Agence France-Presse

US Ambassador Dan Shapiro on Monday sought to quell Israeli fears over an emerging deal with Iran, vowing that Washington would never let Tehran acquire a nuclear weapon.

“On this crucial issue the US and Israel share an identical agenda,” Shapiro told delegates attending the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America in Jerusalem.

US President Barack “Obama has made it crystal clear that he will not permit Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon period, and is prepared to use all elements of our national power to ensure that we are successful,” he said.

His remarks were made as the US and Israel were locked in an escalating war of words over negotiations between world powers and Iran in a bid to halt its nuclear programme, which is widely believed to be a front for developing a military capability.

Neither does France. But it goes against the DU narrative that Israel is responsible for all the ills in that part of the world and Iran simply needs nukes because Israel exists and can defend herself (cuz that's just what's missing from the mullah's handbook).

Russia has nukes. China has nukes. Neither of them has ever used them because they know what would happen.

Why on earth would Iran ever nuke Israel when it would not only mean the fiery death of Iran but it would also destroy a city (Jerusalem) which is also one of the holy cities of Islam. Nuking Israel makes absolutely no sense from Iran's viewpoint.

The only thing nukes WOULD do is prevent the US and/or Israel from attacking Iran knowing Iran had a nuclear response option.

its about Iran agreeing to downblend portions of their existing stockpile of medium enriched uranium, putting a cap on any future amount, and delaying the commissioning of the Arak reactor for six months.

In exchange, Insurers and banks would be able to insure shipments of food and medical supplies, so that Iran could once again import those materials again. There wouldnt be any change to the sanctions preventing importation of materials that could be used for nuclear purposes.

But don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.
