Dianne Feinstein: 'Gun People' Hold A 'Hammerlock' On Gun Control Reform

Source: Huffington Post

Three days after a shooting at Los Angeles International Airport left one TSA agent dead, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she believed "deep down" in reforming gun control legislation.

“Would I do a bill? Sure I’d do a bill. I believe this down deep in my soul,” Feinstein said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday. But the senator said firearms supporters will prevent such legislation from passing.

“I think there’s a hammerlock on the Congress by the gun owners and gun people, and it doesn’t matter," she said.

Feinstein noted that the gun used at the Los Angeles airport was the same model as the gun used in the 2012 Aurora, Colo. movie theater shooting that left twelve dead and 70 injured.

Luckily, just like the Republican Tea Party Fox News viewership they overlap, gun nuts are aging rapidly.

As America blues, diversifies, and populates, racist gun culture will fade away.

She's a phony. She knew that her bill would go nowhere b/c of the filibuster and she made sure the filibuster stayed in place.

Why should they risk their seats when they don't have 60 votes? Feinstein can pretend to offer the AWB bill from her safe seat in CA. She wouldn't do it if she was from FL or CO.

She complains about the need for 60 votes and then makes sure the threshold stays at 60 votes.

Everything needs 60 votes today. This is supposed to be a majority body," complained Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) after the amendment failed.

The three most reluctant Democrats are Sens. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), and Carl Levin (Mich.)

“I think that’s a mistake at this time but I’ll listen to arguments,” said Feinstein, when asked about the prospect of using the constitutional option to change filibuster rules.

It's easy for you as a Connecticut gun activist to trash Feinstein, and I'll readily admit she's far from perfect. But she's a damn sight better than the brain-dead, gun-loving Teabaggers that millions of us are saddled with.

Wish what you want.
Texas is my least favorite state, and I still wouldnt put her there, even to punish Texas for being Texas.
And dont tell me Texas doesnt try to punish California.
Anything to get her out of California, but not into a position of power anywhere.
That lesser evil stuff is hogwash.

Your Senator Cruz has done more for what you probably consider the left than DiFi ever will.
Imagine what a few more like him could accomplish?
Feinstein is the ultimate profiteer, milking California and the Federal treasury like it werent no thing.
Shes a huge success, I'll give her that.
Certainly benefited from gun violence more than most on this side of the aisle.
you can have her.

at the national level if Dianne Feinstein had not pushed for another assault weapons ban.

Perhaps by now we would have had universal background checks and a more effective NICS background check system which would contain the names of those who had been legally adjudged as having serious mental problems that might pose a danger to other people.

Instead we have made zero progress at the national level and limited changes at the state level. Our party has also alienated many of the 80,000,000 gun owners in the nation and it is quite possible that these gun owners will show up at the polls to vote against any and all Democrats. This may cause the loss of close elections at the local, state and national levels.

It's my opinion that it would be wise for our party to ban the use of the word "ban" in the gun control debate and suggest reasonable improvements in our gun laws. If we don't overreach we may convince many gun owners to vote for Democrats rather than the "Party of NO."

I also favor requiring anyone who purchases a firearm or ammunition to have a card proving that he has obtained gun safety training. A scuba diver has to show such a card in order to get air for his tanks as does a sky diver before he boards a plane to jump.
