Lee: GOP Infighting Will Lead to a Stronger Party
Source: Roll Call
The gaping hole in the middle of the Republican party today, the one that separates the grass roots from the establishment leaders, is precisely the size and shape of a new unifying conservative reform agenda, Lee said in a speech Tuesday at the Heritage Foundation. The establishment will not produce that agenda.
In the speech entitled Whats Next for Conservatives, Lee characterized his leading role in the government shutdown as part of a touchstone moment for Republicans fed up with party leaders who have strayed too far from conservative ideals.

The communists have words this: Conservative "revolutionaries" are trying to establish their power. They are fighting the "counter-revolutionaries" who represent the tyrannical old regime and stand in the way of freedom.
Sound familiar?

(406 posts)It's what they really want - a communist dictatorship by big business. Many refer to this as fascism, but I see more of a Soviet-style draconian attitude toward the population coming from these wingnuts. And, we all know that they love to take exactly what they do and shift the blame towards anyone who questions their agenda.

As for the dumb-ass Reagan, I like what Bette Davis said about him.
Bette Davis on Ronald Reagan:
"Everybody called him 'Little Ronnie Reagan the boy scout' at the studio and we didn't think he was terribly bright. For instance, in DARK VICTORY he is playing a gay man and he never really understood that. He did love to talk, though. He would go on and on and would eventually bore everyone. Jane Wyman divorced him because he was a bore."

(3,596 posts)I believe the GOP is going to split in two.
There will be the traditional, establishment GOP that is focused on smaller government, limiting the rights of minorities, supporting gun rights and war and limiting abortion.
There will be the new "tea" party that will be focused on destroying government (more than Grover Norquist's desire to get it small enough to drown in a bathtub), eviscerating the rights of women and minorities in voting, employment, access to healthcare, etc. At the same time wanting to enshrine "Christian Sharia" law.
