6 people dead in SC in apparent domestic dispute

Source: AP

(AP) — Six people were found dead in a home by SWAT team members who came after a man called authorities and said he was thinking about hurting himself.

Authorities found the bodies Tuesday of four adults and two children, including the body of the man they believe called police, Greenwood County Sheriff's Office spokesman John Long told The Associated Press. The ages of the dead ranged from 9 years old to early 50s, Long said. He could not immediately say how the six were killed.

A preliminary investigation indicates the deaths were related to "a domestic-related incident," Long said. He declined to call it a murder-suicide.

Officers first went to the home in Greenwood County after receiving a call from a man who said he was thinking about hurting himself, Long said. He said while police were on their way, one of the man's neighbors called 911 saying four children from that address had arrived at her house and told her a shot had been fired. He said the children remained at her house.

and tells them that he's thinking of hurting himself. The "authorities" say, to themselves, "no, let us do it" and send a SWAT team.
Sounds reasonable.

A sad mess all around.

This member through their posts consistently shouts out in outrage against whatever horrible (but popular to hate) thing or person might be to blame.

In this single thread alone are two responses, one blaming police, the other blaming guns, with insults in both cases.

Clearly, we only know of one gun shot and the police, as you suggest, found the bodies, they didn't kill them.

After about an hour and "several unsuccessful attempts" by officers to make contact with anyone in the home, the SWAT team entered and discovered the bodies, Long said.

The county coroner's office did not immediately respond to an email seeking the deceased's cause of death and identities.

This pattern of knee-jerk replies without substance is disturbing.

Me thinks they doth protest too much.

this one slipped through LOL

I thought I miss read something but it's clear all the police did was respond to a call. How is it stupid of them to do their job???

You know it's getting wonky when we have to resort to Shakespearean Quotes LOL

He can't go five seconds without blaming them for something, even though there is zero evidence they did anything wrong here other than show up to a murder scene.

Why are you blaming the police for this?
They didn't kill these people.
Maybe you should explain your reasoning behind your comment.

And your other comment seems to suggest cops are to blame but there's nothing in the article to suggest that.

After about an hour and "several unsuccessful attempts" by officers to make contact with anyone in the home, the SWAT team entered and discovered the bodies, Long said.

The county coroner's office did not immediately respond to an email seeking the deceased's cause of death and identities.

Maybe you can keep your outrage and insults on hold until more details come to light.

to say he was going to "hurt himself". THAT may have been WHY he was going to hurt himself.

So someone knows there was a gun involved.

The Greenwood Index-Journal has identified the alleged gunman as 27-year-old Bryan Sweatt. He was among the dead, according to the paper. A family member confirmed to News 4 that Sweatt was the shooter.

I wonder why the story in the OP says that sheriffs wouldn't say.

Oh well, more guns yay.

(CNN) -- Six people, including two children and the suspected shooter, were found dead in Greenwood County, South Carolina, an official said Tuesday night.

All died from gunshot wounds, said Greenwood County Sheriff Tony Davis. Authorities believe it's a "domestic-related incident."

The crime scene was along Callison Highway, according to South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesman Tom Berry. Four crime scene investigators and three regional agents from that agency have been sent there to assist local authorities, Berry added.

About 80 miles west of the state capital of Columbia, Greenwood County has roughly 70,000 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

You seem to like to use insults but it seems to get you nowhere.

Now, police aren't always bad, and guns aren't always bad, and calling people names is actually counterproductive to one's cause.

There are people who come to progressive discussion boards just to stir up trouble and create divisiveness.

From the replies you've posted in this thread, it wouldn't be too hard for you to be confused for one of these types of people.

But that's your right to be that way.

Every home MUST have armed guards in every room and everyone down to toddlers in each family should be carrying automatic weapons and such things would never happen.
