Senator targets 2 Michigan parks

Source: Detroit Free Press

A U.S. senator from Oklahoma, railing at what he considers misplaced priorities and self-serving parochialism in the operation of the National Park Service, zeroed in on two Michigan landmarks as being among the 'more egregious, wasteful or otherwise questionable expenses' to be found across the U.S.

Of course, when both of them are gone, the question arises: what fresh hell of crazy will Oklahoma voters crap into the Senate?

but I think what you are really saying is that unmined or undeveloped land is a wasted opportunity to make a profit. If these lands weren't protected, they would be destroyed.

Which was the entire point of the national park system in the first place.

Which, in turn, is your real target, so why play coy?

It's like you think being honest about your agenda might backfire or something.

OK, millionaire farmers that haven't sat on a tractor in years, getting big, wasteful checks from the feds too.

Um, how many visitors/year do they get?

Lots of CCC era construction created a place to protect bison, elk, and longhorn cattle herds as well as smaller critters such as prairie dogs.

waste can always be found and dealt with and public access to these areas should be better, but Coburn never argues for improvements, because he's lazy and ignorant like nearly every single Republican in America.

15. Should be a joint effort due to our governments' instabilities.

I consider misplaced priorities and self-serving parochialism in the operation of the 24-BILLION DOLLAR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN THAT CREATES PROBLEMS FOR MORE THAN two Michigan landmarks as being among the 'more egregious, wasteful or otherwise questionable expenses' to be found across the U.S.

These should be joint efforts. If one government entity becomes unstable the agreement should allow another one to take over.

since the majority of them are virtually inaccessible (which is what I love about them...they're real wilderness). He's probably in cahoots with our idiot governor who would like to take back all the federal land, dig it up and sell the resources to China.

we were told that the island had maybe the fewest visitors annually of a park its size, but that it had the most RETURN visitors of any of the national parks.

we've been to Isle Royale two separate visits, and we loved it. I would go every year if I could afford it.
