Texas Judge Switches to Democratic Party: "The Republican Party Left Me"
Source: Burnt Orange Report
The Republican Party continues to push moderate voters away, but now even it's own elected officials are giving up on the fight with the extremist in their ranks. Today Bexar County Court at Law Judge Carlo Key switched from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party emphasizing that the, "Republican party has been at war with itself," and that ultimately, "I have not left the Republican Party, it left me."

(81,422 posts)Glad you made it here too!!! I'm a lifelong Dem but I found this place in 2001 after feeling as though we'd been robbed the previous November with bush v Gore, and also feeling as though I was completely alone and isolated in my feelings. Nobody else felt the way I did about our precious little mustn't-criticize-his-lordship or openly discuss the many things he was already fucking up. I found my way here and learned I was very wrong in my feelings of isolation. There were tens of thousands of people who felt the same way - here AND elsewhere! It grew to many hundreds of thousands and then millions!
All through the last decade this place was an oasis in the middle of a VERY vast, parched, barren, inhospitable desert.

(1,296 posts)Libertarianism is going to be the new conservatism. Ditch the racism and sex phobia, and the free-market lies can find a much broader audience.

(30,252 posts)No Texas Democrat has assumed a statewide office since 1994. Thanks, Carlo - but you're a little late to the party.

oh then there's the Obama phone which of course Obama had zero to do with. Reagan phone turned into the Bush phone in 2008 when someone thought it'd be cheaper jut to hand out cheaply made cell phones instead of installing expensive landlines..
yeah then they said it's all Dems. Oh then the Republican Mandate ho hum. everything they once supported is all the Democrats idea now... so this obviously happens

(11,521 posts)We can't afford to fight amongst ourselves like that. Discuss different beliefs and positions, definitely. Vote for whichever candidate best represents your values in the primary. Then we MUST unite behind all Democratic candidates for the general election. Anything less and the right wingers gain control.

(23,362 posts)In his own words, from the article, "I have not left the Republican Party...".
Present tense.
So he's a Republican, seeking temporary refuge from the teabagging storm.
