Sparks Middle School shooting: 2 in critical condition, 2 dead including shooter
Source: Reno Gazette-Journal
Authorities released few details about a shooting at about 7:15 a.m. at Sparks Middle School during a 9:15 a.m. press conference at Agnes Risley Elementary School.
They said there are two people dead and two injured, but they are not saying if the injured are students or teachers.
Reno deputy chief Tom Robinson said there were 150 to 200 personnel that secured the school and the surrounding area. The investigation has gone from tactical to an investigative.
Robinson, addressing parents during the press conference, I can tell them to rest assured. The schools are safe. The rest of the city is safe.

I am sick with worry.

(3,251 posts)The shooter apparently was a student there. A male teacher was trying to find out what happened when the shots rang out, and he (apparently it was a male teacher) was shot.
I knew a lot of people who worked there, so it is devastating to hear about it.

(3,466 posts)Is Robinson kidding? This is not a safe place in which to raise a child... an armed madhouse. My thoughts are with those who are affected by yet another violent gun incident, the end of such I suspect we shall never see.

(51,666 posts)between them there are also two kids - the girl is middle school aged, the boy is in HS I think.

(14,337 posts)Did a 13 or 14 year old go out and buy a gun? Sounds to me this is another case of stealing Mommy and Daddy's guns which weren't locked up. Or maybe his parents even bought it FOR him.

(62,532 posts)not locking up their guns or even having a trigger lock or locking up the ammo in a different place in the house.
at the end of the day, it's till irresponsible gun owners.

(12,296 posts)... whenever a body is found or some sort of gun/knife/fist fight happens, the news always ends the story with "police want everyone to know the public is not at risk".
It sounds so Orwellian to me. Never in my life did I hear about a murder etc and think "OMG They're coming for ME NEXT!!!"

That's one advantage to having a large extended family. SOMEBODY along the line knows everything.
