Mitt Romney won’t “light his hair on fire” just to excite the conservative base, he admitted to an audience Tuesday. President Obama offered him a helpful political clinic the same day, rousing a crowd of auto workers with a fiery speech in which he took direct aim at Romney’s opposition to bailing out Detroit.

“I’ve got to admit, it’s been funny to watch some of these politicians completely rewrite history now that you’re back on your feet,” Obama told a UAW convention in Washington. “These are the folks who said if we went forward with our plan to rescue Detroit, ‘you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye.’ Now they’re saying they were right all along!”

“You want to talk about values?” he (Obama) asked. “Hard work — that’s a value. Looking out for one another — that’s a value. The idea that we’re all in it together — that I am my brother’s keeper, I am my sister’s keeper — that is a value.”

He continued: “But they’re still talking about you as if you’re some greedy special interest that needs to be beaten. Since when are hardworking men and women special interests? Since when is the idea that we look out for each other a bad thing?”

I worry it positions him a little too far to the left - even if he is addressing a union crowd. But it sure doesn't make him look afraid or cautious or calculating, does it? It reminds us of the formidable orator any Republican is going to have to counter this fall, and the economic climate and real record that buttresses this president's case. It's why he'll almost certainly win Michigan this fall - and maybe much more.

This was just one of his many uncovered visits across the country, on Labor Day before the 2010 election.

But the Tea Party got all the lion's share of media coverage all year before that. The GOP brought all the wedge issues up for their base to prevent sunsetting of the Bush Tax Cuts.

Now they are saying they will unleash their dogs in media to make sure the 2012 elections are a reprise of 2010. But they aren't hiding behind the wedge issues now, they are saying it outright. David Koch has said it outright. Because paying taxes is for the peasants and not the aristocracy they are creating here.

Unfortunately, the 'leftist' pundits went with the same mass media stories to demonize Obama from the other side and Democrats stayed home. For those who actually want to know, Obama has not changed. This is not an election stump to regain the favor of those who were disenchanted. The narrative from the media has worked so well, that not one word this man says is accepted.

But we are so fortunate, taht the OWS movement allowed a brief window of change in the dialogue, before the next October surprise the GOP intends to play out this year. I'm not that worried about Obama getting a second term; it's what ALEC and hate radio is doing on a state by state basis to dismantle the country, like termites on steroids.

The filter most people have used to judge Obama is controlled by the right and it has been since the media was consolidated in this country on a level that Hitler or Stalin would have been proud of. Something for everyone, but the same conclusions in the end. Okay, rant over, here's a video.

wanting to be handed everything and the reality is that they have had every advantage, including those elected.

or ascend. That is exactly what a bully says. First, they knock you down. Then, they tell you to get up. Why?

Romney and Santorum don't talk about real American "values." They value only money and things and devalue everything that is human or a part of nature (our social character, our environment). Talk about completely worshiping Mammon, you are talking about Republicans. Drill, Baby, Drill, whatever the cost to the environment. How mistaken they are.
