Ted Cruz Blames Senate GOP For 'Bombing Our Own Troops' In The House

Source: TPM

CAITLIN MACNEAL – OCTOBER 16, 2013, 7:17 PM EDT

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) stood behind his effort to use a government shutdown to defund the health care law Wednesday, blaming his fellow Senate Republicans for getting in the way of victory in the House.

Cruz told conservative talk show host Mark Levin that Republican senators had been "firing their cannons" at the House Republican caucus and likened the Senate GOP to an "air force bombing our own troops." Cruz also said that the Senate is "undoubtedly" broken. "It's a broken institution," he said, adding that Senate Republicans are too concerned with "getting invited to the cocktail parties."

The Senate did not take the full brunt of Cruz's blame. The Texas firebrand called the Obama White House "the emperial presidency," and said that Obama was "dangerous" because he "thinks he is above the law." Ultimately, Cruz said that his effort to defund Obamacare, which died in the Senate Wednesday night, was not a failure.

"It was an incredible victory," Cruz said.

because the good teabaggers in Texas didn't elect him to both houses.

My word, he's got an exalted opinion of his worth to the working of the universe. Move over, god.

watch. They may not be able to get rid of him, they can do ever worse...ignore him. For someone of his level of self-importance, we know that the opposite is really true.

Lindsey Graham on CNN just said they "overplayed their hand and ended up with a pair of 2s."

Can't believe there won't be serious repercussions. It's one thing to rail against the Dems in the Senate, but talking smack about his fellow R senators just can't go over well. Good.

No doubt he solidified his position as king of the crazies, and fleeced the rabid, moronic teabaggers accordingly.

I think what Cruz accomplished in the 21-hour hot air exhibition on the Senate floor was to talk his way out of presidential politics for good. Is any Senate Republican going to support him? Not if he keeps talking about them this way. He's the face of a toxic strategy. I suppose he might content himself with being the US Senator from Texas for much of the rest of his life.

Who are the Republicans going to run for president in 2016? Your guess is as good as mine. Nevertheless, another stunt like this one will make the nomination worthless.

here's an idea. You want real money and a chance to really screw people over - go become a Dominionist minister like your dad and start raking in the big bucks. You'll be able to lord it over people that you are one of God's Anointed and tell them what to do. You'll dribble with emotion as they come to you to solve their problems, confess their shortcomings and plead for you to help them. Go on, you know you want to - announce you are retiring from the Senate to follow the call of the dollar, uh, I mean the Lord.
