Obama to create trade law enforcement bureau
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/02/obama-to-create-trade-law-enforcement-bureau/1#.T0zn8nm2ZTJPresident Obama is creating a new agency to challenge what officials see as unfair trade practices, including those by China.
"The President believes that we can't wait to crack down on unfair trade violations and ensure a level playing field for American workers," says a White House statement.
Later this morning, the president will sign an executive order creating an Interagency Trade Enforcement Center.
The president's order "will institute a more aggressive 'whole-of-government' approach to getting tough on trade enforcement by monitoring and enforcing U.S. rights under international and domestic trade rules and countering unfair subsidies that tilt the global market against U.S. firms," said the White House.

(20,234 posts)5. I think fairness is overrated. We need to trade policies of the US to be tilted in favor of the US.
When we be fair and the other guy tilts thing in his favor; we get the situation we have in our trade with China.
This is not to say that I agree that NAFTA should force Latin American farmers to compete with subsidized US grain.
That is a separate issue. I do not believe in that any more than I believe US workers should have to go hundreds of thousands
of dollars in debt for their education or health care when foreign workers get theirs free. We can not solve anything in isolation
nor can we require that one solution address every problems.

cross-border movement of service providers and international consulting firms (violations of GATS Modes 3 and 4)?
Hmmm?
